MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.
So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.
Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.
From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.
Developing...
They said vote for my Dad and the twins said vote for my Dad. It was interesting to watch, I don't know if I interpreted it quite the way it's being reported here and I watched it back three times. They had a bunch of kids standing in front who I gather are there to cheer anyone who's on the stage. It makes it look like the crowd is going wild. However, it only seems like they were cheering. When the Vanessa put her hand to her lips to shush the crowd, I think it was aimed at those in front. It was an odd noise. It sounded more like the audience was pissed that politics were being interjected into their music night than making any kind of political statement. I was surprised, however, to see the rappers and hip hop artists sitting with their hands folded while all this was going on.
And they were on Face the Nation last week defending Dear Old Dad from those wascally Republicans. They deserved to be booed.
It depends in which part of "Miami" you are in.
The sections of Miami with a high Cuban American populatiom vote Republican.
Miami Beach is merely a suburb of New York and votes Democrat.
What the hell is that thing?? An armadillo without a shell?
D'ohhh...beat me to it.
some people don't like politics butting into their enjoyment of other things I see.
She ran in the primary for a seat in the State Assembly. Normally the party isn't supposed to favor candidates in the primaries; they're supposed to let the candidates battle it out among themselves. One of her opponents was Gray Davis' ex-staffer, so Davis got the party to endorse him. My sister-in-law was infuriated by that, since she'd spent years doing all the foundation work that gave her Democrat street-cred, and then those dirtbags stabbed her in the back. She'd always had leanings that put her somewhat out of sync with the party anyway (she and her husband, my brother, own lots of guns for example), so she decided to become a Republican. Luckily the Democrat stooge lost to the Republican in the race, providing some satisfaction to her.
"Excuse me! Excuse me Little People! We have descended from Olympus to tell you that our wonderful father bids you vote for him in the Most Important Election in the Universe!"
*Shhh! Shhh!* "Hear her! Hear the words of my reighteous sister, little ones!"
Crowd: "Boo! Boo! Where's the dress? SHOW US YER TOTS!"
I must admit. They both look pretty good to me. I don't mind the nose.
It's a mutated Kerryrat.
Ah! 'The Finger! Out comes the finger!
Mtv will just re-edit the video in the replays and cut out the boos.
LOL!!! Perfect!
Well now; I was born in 1950, as a 14 year old, I stumped for Barry Goldwater, watched Ronnie making speeches in NJ, and went to school at the University of Denver. I saw Nixon in downtown Denver talking about ending JFK and LBJ;s war in Viet Nam "with dignity." I loved Nixon, Reagan, Bush Senior...
So don't label all of us as 60s era liberal parents. BTW, my son, living in Berkely, HATE the libs he's surrounded by. Furthermore, he doesn't have tatoos or pieced body-parts.
Folks have responsibilities for their actions in daily life; and responsibilities in raising clear headed, responsible children.

Democrats? Backstabbers? Nooooooo. Ha-ha! Good story.
Me, too, in a way...:)
The boos must be the reason for the long faces.
You betcha. They did it to Hillary and they'll do it again. That's where we're at today.
Thanks for pointing that out.
