Almost Started a Riot In New York Today...
Sunday, August 29, 2004 | Kristinn

I almost started a riot today in New York City along the march route of the anti-American left.

I had been standing for hours in the hot sun along 5th Avenue at 32nd Street trading barbs and civil comments with various leftists about my FRY MUMIA t-shirt and large Protest Warrior sign that said, "Criminals for Gun Control" that featured a video still image of a sawed-off shotgun wielding man robbing a convenience store.

I was off by myself because by the time I arrived in the city and checked in to my hotel the Protest Warriors, whom I was going to hook up with, had left to man their battle stations.

So I went off with two other late arriving young PWs and we made our way down to 5th and 32nd. They left me alone to join with the Commies for Kerry when they marched by.

Sometimes my conversations with the leftists turned heated, like when someone called me a bigot and I pointed out that their demonstration was "Whiter than the Republican party." (the march was 99% white, from my four hour long observations.)

I did meet some friendlies there, however, which made the time go by better. Alot of the march was downright boring and banally peaceful.

Towards the end of the march a procession of American flag draped coffins started passing by. The organizers say there were a thousand to represent the not quite number of GIs killed in Iraq. Some of the 'coffins' were draped in black.

AS they passed by, I called out the 'pallbearers' thanking them for reprising their procession of 3000 flag draped coffins that they had done after September 11. I then told them, "Wait, you didn't do that after September 11. In fact, you NEVER protested against Osama bin Laden!" I kept repeating, "You never protested against Osama" as they shrieked in fury at me for daring to challenge them so bluntly.

One man came over and we talked briefly and civilly. He said he had survived the WTC attacks. I told him if my comments weren't accurate for him that's fine, but I was calling out the leftists for how they marched against America three days after the attacks and blamed us.

As more groups of coffins went by, I kept repeating the same refrain to them, adding that they never protested against the first WTC attack in '93, nor the embassy bombings in '98. Repeating all the while, "You NEVER protested against Osama!"

After awhile, a short, thin woman came rushing at me in a rage screaming, "How dare you! How dare you! I lost someone on September 11." I told her that I lost a friend that day too and had seen the smoke pouring from the Pentagon with my own eyes."

Inches from my face, as a hostile crowd joined her in confronting me, she screamed, "Get out of my city, get out of my city!" I told her, "Too late, babe. The Statue of Liberty said 'come.' So here I am."

She kept screaming and I kept firing back. I told her and the crowd they were encouraging our enemies by doing this. I also loudly kept making the point so all on the block could hear, "You NEVER protested against Osama!"

A handful of New York's finest had discretely lined up behind me as the hostile crowd grew larger by the dozens. The crowd starting jeering, "You enlist, you enlist!"

I stepped back further to lessen the threat of a sudden lunge at me by one of the braying leftists. When I backed up near to one of the cops, he politely, but sternly, asked me to break it off as I was "on the verge of causing (the leftists) to riot."

I told him okay, that I had made my point. The crowd backed off and went back to parading the coffins down 5th Avenue. I turned to shake the officer's hand, but he reluctantly declined, saying, "I can't today (it might appear as favoritism). But I'd shake your hand later."

I made my way back to the PW's Bat Cave and returned their sign to them. They told me about their own troubles with the leftists and their great successes during the day, and I shared my experiences, too.

Those guys did excellent work today. Unfortunately I didn't get to see much of it. I'll try to meet up with them more this week. Until then, I promise I won't provoke any riots.

On the walk back through Times Square tonight, the Fry Mumia t-shirt almost got me attacked a few times. Some of the leftists are snarling and waiting to unleash their pent up hostility on Pubbies and conservatives. Be careful out there.

Don't cops tend to hang out outside of work... Maybe hit a bar or two to relieve the days tensions?

Figure out which bars, and you can maybe buy a few of them a drink or two.

... and these are the protestors who demand civility? Or is it just that flip-flopping on the issue of civility is a "lifestyle" for them. Congratulations and thank you, Kristinn.

One of the best things I've ever seen was you and Dr. Raoul Freep the "other Kerrey". That was cool.

Be careful. I was listening to AirheadAmerica today and there ware some real fools out there. Some with signs that have weapons in them.
