GOP platform pushes amnesty
NJ.com ^ | 8/29/04 | Paul Mulshine

If there are any deluded souls out there who still believe George W. Bush is a conservative, I invite them to examine the 2004 Republican Party platform on the issue of amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Bush is for it. That makes him a liberal. Worse, he proclaims that the amnesty is not an amnesty. So he is not only a liberal, but a liar as well.

I hope your conscience is eased with your higher taxes and bloated inflation.

Higher taxes? You think that isn't going to happen with us importing and endless number of extremely poverty stricken uneducated people? They need free health care and lots of education, free day cares. You and I will be expected to pay.

The Rules Is The Rules.

Of COURSE those who obtained citizenship are not 'punished' by the illegals---

What actually happens is that the rule of law becomes shredded by this kind of crap.

If the Executive Branch is just going to ignore SOME laws, which ones will they ignore NEXT? And why can't I carry my .45 openly? Or drive at 40 MPH over the limit? Or screw the IRS?

You get the idea.

I never stated what my priorities were, and you have no idea what they are.

I can't help it if the truth hurts. If you choose to attack me personally, fine, but I wonder why you even bother to post to "self-abosrbed barking seals" which are "annoying" and "useless." I've always been curious about those who choose to do so.

Yeah ok whatever...

stay way to the right in a polarized electorate....see what happens...

Watch as Kerry is exposed as a liberal this week and see how his support drops off.....

They already call him a right wing nut job...how many people are going to vote for a nut job that are floating in the middle anyway?

It's not that I'm "way to the right." I am where I've always been. It's that Bush has gone way to the left.

Like Ronald Reagan said, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party, they left me."

Tom Tancredo in 2008?

The wet dream of the "I wish to be ruled by a Powerless Backstabbing Back Bencher promoted to Benevolent Dictator" set. Let's add Tom McClintock and Ron Paul to the wish list.

Just to make Conservatism completely marginalized as a political force.

This is my fear too: Hillary putting together a coalition of unions, tech workers, blacks, and others harmed by unfettered illegal immigration and runs to the right of the Republicans on the issue. In the meantime she's clearing out the competition in the dem party.

This amnesty is only for those that are currently working. I know the office where I work is cleaned by Mexicans every night. No one else wants to do that work. I assume that these guys are documented, but they are here to work and perform a service, why not let them become citizens. Only the ones that are employed of course.

OK - I'm a Saudi-funded jihadist who sees that Congress is about to pass an "amnesty" bill (sorry, President Bush, that's what it is.) So I set up some kind of bogus "foundation" or school and bring in as many terrorist fellow-travelers as fast as I can buy the plane tickets. All my little droogs are "employees," none of them have green cards or any documentation (I just drive them in over the border - but unlike the coyotes, I'm considerate and my vans / trucks are air conditioned.)

My "employees" never show up for work and draw only a minimal paycheck, and do whatever else the gov't requires to obtain permanent residence in the US. Meanwhile, they run all over the US taking pictures, fooling around in the toilets of airplanes, whatever.

Is this smart? Is this worth a few Hispanic votes, which the president probably isn't going to get anyway?

"He wants to give social security benefits to illegals, only after 6 quarters of working in the US. US citizens require 40 quarters of work to be eligible."

Why do you bother posting such nonsense. Here's my *first* google hit on that long-ago disproven claim that you are still making, and it *clearly* shows that it only applies to *legal* workers:

SOCIAL SECURITY

News Release

United States and Mexico Sign Social Security Agreement

Agreement to Benefit U.S. Workers and Employers

(Printer friendly version)

Jo Anne Barnhart, Commissioner of Social Security, signed an agreement today with Dr. Santiago Levy Algazi, Director General, Mexican Social Security Institute, that will remove from U.S. citizens working for U.S. companies in Mexico the burden of paying social security taxes to both countries. The agreement also will remove the double taxation requirement for Mexican citizens working for Mexican companies in the United States. “This agreement eliminates a serious and unnecessary impediment to American and Mexican businesses and their employees,” Commissioner Barnhart stated. “Just as important, it promotes equity and fairness for workers who divide their careers between our two countries.”

Currently, U.S. companies that employ U.S. citizens in Mexico are required to contribute to both the U.S. and Mexican social security systems. When the agreement takes effect, U.S. and Mexican employers and their employees will contribute to either the U.S. or Mexican social security systems, but not both. This will result in approximately 3,000 U.S. workers and their employers sharing in tax savings of $140 million over the first five years of the agreement.

The agreement also will improve social security protection for people who work in both countries. At present, some workers who have divided their careers between the United States and Mexico fail to qualify for social security benefits from one or both countries because they do not meet minimum eligibility requirements. Under the agreement it will be possible for workers and their family members to qualify for pro-rated U.S. or Mexican benefits based on combined credits from both countries. This will result in approximately 50,000 U.S. and Mexican workers receiving benefits after the first five years of the agreement.

By the way, The author of this piece Paul Mulshine is not a Conservative. He is a liberal who pretends he is a conservative only to stir up trouble.

This idiot also claims that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are not real Conservatives either

Then conservatives can turn the heat on the RINOs and the Bush administration with emails, letter-writing, and faxing.

That's worked pretty well so far!

There is alot of "moral equivalence" going on with republican/conservatives on the immigration issue. The argument is that this is just one of many issues and Bush should be judged in a broad context. Not quite!

I did't like Bush's medicare legislation for the same reasons many people didn't like it: too expensive, too complicated, too much of a giveaway to the drug companies etc. We can argue about it, see how it works, and maybe change it.

Immigration is different. It fundamentally changes the demographics of the US. These people aren't going home, the changes will be profound and permanent. AND THIS IS AMNESTY 2...It becomes harder and harder to argue against amnesty 3, sure to come, ever bigger and vastly expanded.

If the Republicans are going to merge our nationhood into some sort of continental, or hemisheperic political union, maybe they should tell us... that seems to be where this is going. NO, IMMIGRATION IS NOT JUST ONE OF MANY ISSUES. IF THE REPUBLICANS CRAP OUT ON THIS,well, there really is no difference between thems and dems.

How about hiring legal immigrants. The legals can then apply for citizenship.

What other lawbreakers do you think we should reward?

It is not a bad thing, necessarily, that persons enter this country and take the scut work jobs that have to be done, but for which nobody is willing to pay a whole lot. Or the work could be left undone.

This is the biggest myth, that illegal immigrants do "necessary" work. Necessary to whom?

One problem with illegal immigration rarely mentioned is that when wage rates are driven down so far, there's no incentive to do work with less labor. If there weren't so many illegals in the chicken plants, for instance, there would be more incentive to build virtually automated plants that required minimal workers.

As far as domestic workers, who needs it? We have very few illegal workers where I live, and guess what - the lawns still get mowed; houses still get built and repaired; babies still get their nappies changed. It's not that 'Americans won't do those jobs' - it's that Americans won't do those jobs for virtually no money, and rightly so.
