If there are any deluded souls out there who still believe George W. Bush is a conservative, I invite them to examine the 2004 Republican Party platform on the issue of amnesty for illegal immigrants.
Bush is for it. That makes him a liberal. Worse, he proclaims that the amnesty is not an amnesty. So he is not only a liberal, but a liar as well.

You've conceeded the argument by lowering the standard from sealing the border, to tightening the border. Thanks for making my case for me.
As far as "the stop and drop citizenship fiasco", that requires a change in the Constitution.
He signed a law authored by YOUR State Senator. I'll consider making Bush accountable the second you get Diane Feinstein thrown out of Congress.
Fair enough?
"Then you shouldn't claim them. I asked you for a poll because *you* made a claim. You claimed that the breakdown of 35% left-of-center Americans, 34% right-of-center Americans, and 31% middle-road Americans didn't apply to the issue of immigration. Now you admit that you have no such evidence. Clearly this is an area in which you should refrain from comment (on stats at least) then."
I didn't claim a poll. BTW, how do you "claim" a poll? Whether someone is left, right, or center says nothing about how that person feels about borders and illegals issues. You can't even define middle-road, yet you're measuring the percentage of others relative to that baseline. Views and opinions as to borders and illegals issues defy pigeon-holing and cut across party lines.
So you say. Where's the tangible evidence, however?
5 Legislative Days Left Until The AWB Expires
During the Civil War the Irish went straight from the boat to the Infantry. Maybe we could just get them as they cross the border and send them straight to Iraq, gun in hand.
You on Carl Rove's staff, I notice you have been here about 4 months.
Sure beats shouting at the TV. Of course I would be interested in any legislative solutions you may proffer, luis.
Well now that we know your position here, I think we can safely ignore your Karl Rove inspired rants.
And we can see the effect of this because there are millions of illegals detained for deportation, and hundreds of employers scheduled for trial. </sarcasm>
Yes they were, but mostly as Bucannonites, you should have been here for the fun then.
Proof please, because I d@mn sure voted for Bush.
As I recall when this board was established Bill Clinton was known as the original Poll Driven President, and he was pilloried for it. What has changed? Just one little word (D) became (P)
Exactly.
The support for CFR on here is amazing. Would they have supported it if it was passed and signed by Democrats? No way.
OK. They are real conservatives.
Then you are saying the President has no power to influence the outcome of a bill in congress? He did manage to foist Bill Frist on us as majority leader, so I guess he is not all that powerless.
In case you have forgotten, the President has not exercised the Veto one time in his tenure. I am not sure but I don't think that has ever happened before.
Would you post a link that proves that? I believe Joan Baez did, but I have no knowledge of such an apology from Hanoi Jane.
Thats probably not too far from the truth. It kinda seems like the Stainmaker and Evita have been keeping a low profile since the convention. They're just kinda sitting back and watching J E'ffin K implode. They'll never come out and say it, and when asked they'll mouth the party line like the good Stalinist soldiers they are, but Evita knows if Bush loses in '04 she's toast in '08.
Now why would anyone on here want to do that, seeing as how you do such a good job of that all by yourself?
I realize that a handful of the soldiers fighting are not citizens --- most of them are not illegals --- but the soldiers should be given preference.
It's actually against the law for illegals over 18 not to register for the draft but you'll see very very very few have bothered to do so. It's just like with their own country, when it comes to fighting for justice they refuse to do anything, they want it all easy and that means getting USA jobs but at the same time they are not willing to fight for any ideals.
Have you ever heard of Silvestre Reyes --- elected by an almost all hispanic, all democrat region --- the only reason he ever became famous was because he put Operation Blockade and Operation Hold-the-Line into place, stood up to the corrupt Mexican government which condemned him strongly. He was seen as someone who would do something about the lax border. You shouldn't make the assumption that every USA born hispanic --- maybe whose family never immigrated or has been here for 400 years, wants a merger with the country of Mexico.
