Of the many charges against John Kerry's Vietnam record made by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the Kerry campaign has managed to keep Mr. Kerry's Silver Star story above water. Chicago Tribune editor William B. Rood came out last week as an eyewitness to the events of Feb. 28, 1969, bolstering Mr. Kerry's version of events, as have official Naval records. Though Mr. Kerry has had to backtrack on at least two of his accounts the "Christmas in Cambodia" story and whether he really deserved his first Purple Heart the day when Mr. Kerry beached his swift boat and tracked down a Viet Cong soldier seems to have withstood scrutiny.

The DU'ers are all excited because they found a Bush's offical Air Force picture from the early 1970s in which he wears an Air Force Outstanding Unit award ribbon.
He is wearing it by custom, because his unit won this award in 1966.
Look for the Democrats to make an issue of this picture soon.
do you have this picture you could post it here...
Mr. and Mrs. Holzer bring up another interesting point. Over at JohnKerry.com, the Navy citation for Mr. Kerry's Silver Star does not mention the combat "V". It appears, then, that the Navy didn't mistakingly grant a "V" with Mr. Kerry's Silver Star. So, how did it get into Mr. Kerry's DD 214? .... ***
G'morning, Cincy
Hi there JohnHuang2!
Er... the significance of this picture is...?
UGGH! This is not true. The citation says one thing, Rood & everybody else tell another tale. John Kerry is obviously lying here.
Just think, if Kerry hadn't gotten "3" "Purple Hearts", he might had to have served a real tour of Vietnam and stayed for a real year, he might have been killed and wouldn't be in the mess he's in now. And maybe Dennis Kucinich (?) or Jerry Springer would be the Dimos candidate.
Oh, how I hate to piss on the DU's great find!
As I recall, If a member is part of the AF Outstanding Unit, which covers the period of the award, the AF member is authorized to wear the AFOU ribbon. Even if the AF member was not assigned to the unit on the date the AFOU ribbon was earned by the AF organization.
