Your a brilliant fellow, Mr. Jim. Perhaps you can help me understand some things I'm just not getting.

The Administration is lobbying to have the FTAA conference in Atlanta. How does that agreement help the U.S.? Fifteen years ago the Heritage Foundation assured us that NAFTA would stop the drug smuggling, virtually eliminate the influx of illegal aliens and raise Mexico's standard of living.

Today, either unable or unwilling to acknowledge its failure, they and our leadership wish to expand those policies to other countries in this hemisphere. If they were wrong then how does making an even larger version of that error benefit our nation?

It is a crisis, but we hope Bush does something about policing the borders after the election. Obviously Kerry's worse than useless on this as well as anything else, but even leaving aside terrorist infiltration...until prosperity and decent govt. blooms south of the border, people will head north. That's fine, and it's worked in the past, but we can't continue to absorb millions of people...well, V.D. Hanson has said plenty on the subject, as you know. Okay, it's a side issue. What's on the table at the moment is getting GW reelected. Focus, focus, focus!

Even if you arbitrarily cut Caruba's number in half--to only 2500 or so Arab-speaking illegals--are you trying to tell us that there is absolutely NO danger or threat present by virtue of their access to this country?

Since all of my grandparents got here the old-fashioned way (LEGALLY), it's not too much to ask that others do the same.

Is there a problem with following the laws of the country?
