Don't want the gators -- not enough water. Don't need them actually, since the constant traffic through certain areas has gotten the local mountain lion and black bear population far too familiar with humans.
I have found four load-out sites in the Huachuca Mountains in the past couple of months that were rapidly abandoned. One was full of mountain lion tracks, the other three full of bear tracks and bear droppings -- the bears have learned how to open cans with their teeth. Yogi Bear liked picnic baskets; his local cousins prefer backpacks.
One mountain lion has already come down out of the hills and set up housekeeping on the San Pedro River -- alias Highway 101 for illegals. The size of his tracks and length of stride indicate he's a male senior citizen. It won't take him long to find out that two-legged prey is far easier than javelina, Sonoran white tail deer, or cattle.
All it will take is a couple of deaths by way of the bear or mountain lion and there will be clamoring that we have to protect them better. We alread supply water in the desert, next it will be a hand held escort, warm meal, a bed, and some cash.
Tucson had a mountain lion problem recently. I requested that if they caught any that they would release them in my custody. The old fart out by the river looks like he needs a girlfriend, anyway.
Actually, I would bet, in the not to distant future, that is exactly what is going to happen.
All kidding aside, we have too many females and kids coming through. Guess who would be lowest on the food chain...
And or if they ever do get the problem solved, no telling what a huge department of legions of armed unionized government thugs workers and all that goes with it might turn itself into to keep busy enough to earn (likely story) their pay.
Yes. It's called the democrats (read neo-communists).
Agreed. I know this has probably been said a thousand times, but if our country is so HATED..why are we the only one that people from other countries want to flock to? I don't see anyone sneaking across the border into France.
Some of those who are creeping in do so in search of a better life. Others have more of a dark agenda.
I'm just a small town country girl from Ohio, so obviously I don't have the answers. I just know that President Bush has more answers than questions where terrorism is concerned, as opposed to Kerry, doesn't seem to have squat.
It's rather a Catch 22 situation for our president. Does one seal off our borders completely? Try getting re-elected if you go that route. And then, we're back were we started almost 12 years ago.
lol. Extra butter and a large Coke please.
Can't wait to see their party platform. That'll be a gruesome twosome.
Fat men and old ladies?
Now cut that out, Jim! Note to readers. Everything I've posted to this thread has been attempts at sarcasm and or lame humor. Wasn't meant to offend sensitive palates.
As a small town girl from Ohio, you probably have a better beat on the issue than anyone else. :) How are the Reps doing in Ohio ??
Lisa, Both parties have no clue on the immigration issue, it's voodoo, persona non grata type thing.
This issue has been ignored by the best of them, dating back to the 60's.

Much more.
Oh, I thought you hadn't seen it yet.
Jim, I don't think anyone could have a lower opinion of government workers than I do. I have to deal with them on a daily basis on my day job. I openly refer to it as watching the government not work; of course that makes me endlessly popular.
Then I transition to the night job (or hobby) and bump into an entirely different mind set on the part of the Border Patrol. They want to do their job. They are evil about wanting to do their job and hate being constantly reigned in for the sake of political correctness or political expediency.
Of all the Fed's activities, the Border Patrol is the one that most resembles the military. Their training is more intense than the Navy or Air Force and compares quite well with the Army and Marines. Other Federal agencies are always trying to convince them to jump ship.
I'm retired Army and have no problem with any of the Border Patrol's "bush apes" covering my fanny.
Hell Jim, You caused me to eat 2 extra helpings of ice cream. ;)))))))).
