Kerry Biographer: KERRY CAN RELEASE HIS JOURNALS

Another John Kerry excuse for refusing to release some of his Viet Nam records has just taken a direct hit. And this one comes from his “official” biographer Douglas Brinkley, author of the fawning 546-page pro-Kerry tome “Tour of Duty.” The book jacket claims, “Tour of Duty" is the definitive account of John Kerry's journey from war to peace.”

The Kerry campaign has refused to release Kerry's personal Vietnam archive, including his journals and letters, saying that the senator is contractually bound to grant Brinkley exclusive access to the material. But Brinkley said this week the papers are the property of the senator and in his full control.

"I don't mind if John Kerry shows anybody anything," he said. "If he wants to let anybody in, that's his business. Go bug John Kerry, and leave me alone." The exclusivity agreement, he said, simply requires "that anybody quoting any of the material needs to cite my book."

Ouch! Kerry still won't release them or the rest of his military records. I heard one of his campaign officials outright lie about all of the records being available on his website.

They are reduced to lying, counterattacking and hoping the whole issue will go away. But, bit by bit, and mainly on the net the facts are getting around.

Brinkley said the discrepancy with the statement that Kerry hadn't been shot at yet, AFTER receiving a purple heart was due to the fact that the journal was written three years after the fact.

This is beyond ludicrous because Kerry camp issued a totall different excuse for the lie.

Looks like Brinkley doesn't like being the goat in this saga.

Kerry Aide: Well, we would love to but there is this legal agreement with the Tour of Duty author barring us from doing so.

Talking Head: The author has stated that the journals and diaries are available and there are no contract restrictions with the exception of crediting the author.
