After-Freep Report: Kerry in Seattle/Tacoma (Press Van Flips Us Off!)
My never lyin' eyes | 08/28/04 | SW6906

Posted on 08/28/2004 3:33:16 PM PDT by SW6906

Today the unwashed masses gathered at the Tacoma Dome for a Kool-Aide drinking party AKA a Kerry rally. The line snaked down several blocks and was continuously feeding into the event for about four hours. I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say there were thousands and thousands of Kerry-ites there. All-in-all, there were at the peak about 50+ pro-Bush/anti-Kerry protesters spread out over a couple block area.

I arrived in Tacoma around 8:30 AM and never before have I seen so many hard-core lefties in one place as I saw here. Nearly every car I saw as I drove to the parking garage (and in the parking garage) had at least a Kerry sticker, more often than not also some kind of anti-Bush sticker. This was truly going into the belly of the beast. As I parked my car, I decided that:

1-I better back my truck into a wall parking space, and
2-I better take down the 8X11 Unfit For Command book cover picture from my back window.

I need this vehicle to get to work. ;o)

I linked up with our fearless chapter leader, Libertina as she stood alone on a corner with her Kerry Lied sign. We weren't there five minutes before we got our first one-finger salute. One woman with a Bush Lied shirt stood across the street and gestured to herself saying "This is who lied". That was just too much of a slow, fat softball pitch right over the plate that Libertina felt compelled to swing it out of the park with her retort: "Yeah, that's right, you are a liar!" That lady gave us our second one-finger salute.

We weren't allowed to meet at our original meeting place, so other Freepers may have had trouble finding us. We met up with some Protest Warriors and headed up towards the event. We soon discovered that the real protest was down a block and around the corner, right at the entrance to the rally! Yes, folks, they set us up on one side of a narrow two-lane street with the line feeding into the rally across the street, WELL within eye and earshot. The police did a good job of keeping the street a "no mans land" as many a time one of theirs tried to come over to get in our faces.

There was one guy there on our side who was VERY vocal, mostly about Vietnam. For some reason, after a while, he decided to get off on a rant about homosexuals and abortion, asking the crowd across the street to raise their hands if they were a "homo" or had had an abortion. After some time of this, a cop came and asked him to tone it down and not use the word homo. Bad idea. This set him off even more and he got louder and even more offensive. Several of us tried asking him to calm down as he was not making us look good, he was not helping the cause. We eventually packed up and moved down the block as we didn't want to be associated with his over-the-top extremism and choice of language - especially when there were kids there.

I respect his opinion, but this just wasn't the place to go off on that. None of the 25+ signs we had dealt with homosexuality or abortion (including his), that was not what we were there for.

After about an hour, he left and we were able to return to the prime spot he had occupied.

The LaRouchie's showed up with a huge banner condemning Bush and Kerry. They had some obscene song they kept singing over and over in unison about Bush and (Dick) Cheney and Kerry and so on. It actually was a nice sounding tune, but the words were nothing I liked. Good thing it was hard to understand many of the words. ;o)

A big group of the protesters (Protest Warriors?) brought these HUGE 4 ft X 8 ft poster boards that they wrote everything from Kerry is a Traitor to Asians for Kerry to Washington Loves President Bush to Kerry Lied and so on. EXCELLENT signs as they were huge with large, easily readable letters. We took turns holding them at various times.

Of course there were a lot of one-finger salutes and swearing at us, all in front of kids that were waiting to go in. One guy was trying to sell stickers to people waiting in line that said “Lick Bush and his Dick” (as in Cheney) or something obscene like that.

One yell I used over and over as the line moved by was “Kerry wraps his campaign in Vietnam and says Bring it On, then when the Swift Boat Vets bring it on, he says make them stop, make them stop” (in a whiney voice).

Kerry was supposed to be there at noon, he ended up being 50 minutes late. By then, we had been told by some of Tacoma’s finest that Kerry was going to come right by on the main street at the end of the side street we were on, so we moved down there and lined both sides of the street with our huge signs and people waving flags. When his entourage arrived, he drove RIGHT THROUGH OUR GAUNTLET. When he came around the corner and saw us, he was clearly seen in his SUV (yes, he was in an SUV) immediately turning and ducking his head so as not to see us. Coward.

Several of the vehicles in the entourage had signs in them saying Press Pool. In one of them the passenger in the front seat had his window down and I saw him flip us off. Another person said they heard him yell FU as well. Nope, no media bias here folks, nothing to see.

A couple other Freepers besides Libertina and I were there, but I’m afraid I didn’t get their names. As I recall more details, I’ll post replies……….

Belly Girl? What "Belly Girl?" he asks, wondering if someone might post the picture.

Someone might...

I wish I were able to do that. But just follow this link to be reminded of Operation Iraqi Freedom's Betty Grable:

Hey Nea!

I have my W-04 sign on my car, and my flag with "Freedom isn't free" and my yellow support the troops ribbon. The only time I take them off is when I'm going to the People's republic of Seattle. =)

Very harrowing close combat. It sounds like you were unbloodied by the Rats best weapons (the finger, the f word, and hate). Although the news did show one Rat throwing a sucker punch and getting arrested.
JFK is reeling over the Swiftees attacks and more counter demos will cause him to unravel even faster. Keep up the pressure.

BTTT Great report SW6906! Excellent job FReepers 4woodenboats and son, Protest Warrior Sherie & friends, Outpost 122 Bridge People Daniel & friends, Sherry V from the Pubbbies, and some contingents from KVI570!

Well, to start with I have never seen so many unwashed, sloppy, scraggly people together since the 70s... NOT ONE AMERICAN FLAG DID THEY CARRY!!! No flag pins, not red white and blue clothing... The first thing that happended after the 1 finger salute is that a short, angry, middle aged woman told me I couldn't follow her on the sidewalk. (We were walking up to the next block.) When I pointed out I was just walking up the street, not talking to her, she stuck her butt into my sign to stop me - going from side to side as I tried to get around her. LOL Dang it's fun to watch liberals fall apart!

To add to SW's report, there were LOTS of vulgarities. As I left one guy read my sign and then spat at me as I walked by, lots of fingers, and 100 times more hatred of Bush than affection for Kerry. Gross sexual innuendos...do these people have a secret yearning for our president in the carnal sense? One funny one: a woman came by and became so incensed by our signs that she started screaming the Bush didn't serve, was AWOL, was a traitor and NOT EVEN AN AMERICAN! Unfortunately for her about 10 of us burst out laughing. Not an American? These peole are going to need serious mental attention after he wins the election and gets another 4 years.

Attending WA politicians list: John Landenburge PC Exec, Patty Osama-bin-Mama Murrya (who Joh Kerry said they had to fight for) Head of the D Party... Also campaigning for judicial positions: Armijio? somebody and Linda Lee. Also Dick Doresett was there, campaigning for the seat of Harold Moss at the County Council. He's a Dem, but would be much better than Tim Ferral.

A strange thing happended, many people left before Kerry arrived and even walked out as he began speaking... Even Linda Lee whose running for judge... LOL I asked one lady why and she said she had to go home, but it was odd. And of course we razzed them a bit he he he

Wonderful SW6906 had the winning one liner. The police were starting to move and talk on their radios saying that Kerry was only his way. Then SW yells out to the one policeman we'd been chatting with - "So, are going to see a presidential movement now?" After he said it the double meaning occurred to us. The policeman was turned away, but when his face was visible again I could see he had been laughing.

Also, I think I might have met Shotocan in a red car. As I walked across the street about 8:45, this guy asks me about the waffle breakfast. I asked if he was Shotocan, but don't think he heard me and he said his name was Joe, then drove off. I must have missed something in our exchange... LOL

When Kerry came in they played "He's simply the best" which seems to go very nicely with the words "He's simply unfit," which I proceeded to sing and dance to. (Much to the annoyance of liberals everywhere. No one in our group was hurt, we were well protected by Tacoma's finest.

I admit I didn't listen to all of sKerry's speech. BUT what I did hear: IF our troops are sent to fight they should be well outfitted. He accidentally forgot to mention that he voted against their body armor funding... BTW, Did you know Kerry served in VIetnam? LOL

Also the new buzz word is health insurance. Seems everyone pretty much has health care (of some kind) so now we all need health insurance - which is convenient since 43 million Americans do not have blah blah blah... Also, every person (American?) needs the kind of coverage that the Senate has etc. (It was a very frightening feeling watching the great unwashed all round me giving thunderous applause to the novel idea of taking other people's money to pay for for their goodies.

BUT HE HAS GOOD NEWS! (Geico, LOL) Kerry says he can fund it all by
1. Getting rid of those tax cuts for the rich (applause by morons who also get tax xuts but but don't understand it)
2. He will take back the free money given by the government to companies who send jobs over seas... Huh? Anyone aware of $ that government GIVES to companies who go overseas? Anyway, in sKerry's world, when we take away the rights of American companies to compete freely in the international marketplace we'll have all the $ we need to have wellness care, kids going to college, etc. (Thought we already had that.... ???)

I'll sign off here and let someone else report in, but I want to say thanks everyone for coming, and for hanging in there through the pretty awful first hour of the FReep when the wrath of the pastor was drowning out the message! BTTT FReepers ROCK! So do Protest Warriors, brave pubbies, and our Bridge friends!

Take heart, President Bush had a huge group cheering him on today in Ohio!

President Bush makes remarks during a public rally at Troy Public Square, Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Troy, Ohio.

Way to go guys and gals, you make us all proud.

Citizens, not spectators! I hope that you at least ruined some of the Kerry supporters moods, and it sounds like you surely did.

When Kerry got near me, he had his glasses down on his nose, reading our signs. He must need bi-focals, but it looked so arrogant, them slipped down on his nose as he looked down his nose at us. Not one of the "people," certainly... I had my sign for George Bush and had a thumbs down. That small expression of disapproval earned me the finger from someone in an official vehicle that followed. Perhaps the Press Corp SUV van. (YES, SDKerry WAS in a large van type SUV!) The left is uncivil and unravels easily. My second sign said John F'n Kerry: Unfit for Command. It drove tham mad. Must have hit a very raw nerve... BTTT

Kerry would not even be campaigning in Washington State if he thought it was a lock. His interal polls must show the race is tightening. He was coming by earlier in the year to pack away $$$ from the well off liberal kooks, but the fund raising season is over.

I wouldn't dare put a Bush bumper sticker on my car. A friend had his car keyed and windows smashed in 2000 - he had a Bush sticker on the bumper. There are just too many DU / crazies in the Seattle area.

"PHOTOS PLEEZZZZE! We gotta See da pictures. Which MSM van and ego flipped you off? I'm sure it would make a great news item for Sean H and Laura I would just love to talk about it come Monday's show I'm sure."

Photos and vids PLEASE! I've said this many times before but it needs to be repeated. Take photos, take videos, to be even more effective have the cameras separated with each of this audio/visual Freepers wearing the opposition's shirts, anti-bush shirts, etc. and standing away. The libs will just think the costumed freepers are fellow travelers.

I know this is easy for me to say since I'm not in a prime Freeping state (NH) but if I could, I would.
