Patrick J. Buchanan is not done causing trouble for the GOP, a party he loves but which he believes has abandoned many of the core principles of conservatism.
Just in time to cause a stir at next week's Republican National Convention, the Trib's regular Wednesday and Saturday columnist, TV pundit, editor of The American Conservative magazine, adviser to three presidents and thrice-defeated presidential candidate has debuted his sixth book, "Where the Right Went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency."
Along with strong criticism of President Bush's immigration, trade and social spending policies, the book blasts the current administration for intervening in Iraq and igniting a "war of civilizations" with the Islamic world that will only foment terrorism and tie America down for generations. I talked to him Thursday by telephone from his offices in Washington:

I'm shocked...shocked, I tell you.
Go (away) Pat Go
Now, now Willie
Calm down.
Pat is just being his usual cantankerous self.
:)
Pat went waaaaay off the reservation about 10 years ago.
Pat is right but now considered a "radical". The moderates have control of the universe. How can you tell? It is a PC universe.
Not much meat in the article, but Pat is wrong about Iraq, not way the USA could over look 911. No freakin way, the USA for batter or worse must change the mind set of the middle east, Iraq was as good as any place to start.
Yep!!!
May the Good Lord bless his pitchfork and grant it everlasting sharpness.
This from an ash hole who ran with lola foulani last time and couldn't get himself arrest in an election against ANY real Republican. GO PAT GO alright, right the @#$% out of here!
I thought he'd be too old for menopause by now...
Both Bush presidencies have ruined the Republican Party.
Pat has a following of two: His sister Bay and himself.
Pat isn't even a Republican. How can he love a party he opposes?
Most conservatives I know would certainly agree with that.
This just what my lib sister said on Sept. 12-- we can't retaliate be cause it might make the terrorists mad.
Will somebody please tell the Buchananites that it's too late, terrorism is already fomented and it's high time we did a little fomenting of our own dammit.
"A: No, I think, ah, I think, ah, three (laughs) ... as Nixon used to say, "Buchanan, I think that fellow broke his pick." (laughs) "
Broke his pick, but still trying to play it with his thumbs. Like an ex wife who keeps calling.
Credibility rating for PB ? Just over that of Dick Morris.
Pat is right, and has never changed from the original conservative views; America first, cut government spending, and protect our boarders.
To make matters worse, with NAFTA in effect we have been and are exporting manufacturing jobs overseas. Millions of jobs go simply to the "lowest bidder" in countries like Mexico, China, India (name your poison) that have no workers compensation and provide no health care benefits. The whole world is driven by green and corruption. American corporations are powerful and help drive the global economy.
Pat is ignored by the GOP today. But he hits the nail right on the head on the issue of illegal immigration. Feel free to flame away, I wear asbestos underwear.
