Cease fire! Campaign focuses on wrong war(Barf alert)
Pravda on the Cumberland ^ | 08/28/04

Ready for a ceasefire? We are — not just in Iraq, though that would surely be welcome too, but a ceasefire in the battle of Swift boat units from the Vietnam War.

Enough. John Kerry is a bona fide war hero; the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth can't change that even if they've changed their minds a couple of times on the issue.

But the real tragedy in this battle over Vietnam is that the United States has other wars to fight. Both John Kerry, the Democratic nominee for president, and President George W. Bush, expected to be re-anointed by Republicans next week, must tell the American people where and how they intend to fight those battles in the future.

Bush made a good stab at ending the Swift boat debate Tuesday by declaring that all soft money campaigning was detrimental to the process. Yet, just as swiftly, White House aides came back to correct the impression by saying that the president didn't mean to single out the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in his remarks.

This group has been repeatedly unmasked as a gigantic fraud on the American people. Its members include people who just a few years ago gave public testimony to Kerry's courage. Its membership includes people decorated for the very bravery under fire that Kerry had been, yet they now deny it ever happened. Its membership includes ties to the Bush campaign and campaign operatives like the president's chief political adviser, Karl Rove.

By the same token, the Kerry campaign has ties to a group called America Coming Together that seeks to get out the vote as the Swift boaters do.

The mischief of these independent groups in the first presidential campaign in the McCain-Feingold era of campaign finance reform speaks not to the law's failure, but the need for more reform.

Americans need to hear more about that from the two top contenders for president. More importantly, they need to hear from Mr. Bush and Kerry about how they'd deal with the aftermath of a poorly planned war with uncertain ending, little allied support, empowered insurgents and embarrassing revelations. Not Vietnam — Iraq. The Swift boats should be sent on their way.

John Kerry doesn't quite fit my criteria of war hero. Would those at Pravda on the Cumberland put him in the class of Tennessee war heroes like Sam Davis and Alvin C. York...I wouldn't. He is most likely a hero to Rassman, the anti-war people and the Viet Cong.

They have NEVER changed their minds. It was F'n who's changed his tale, time & time again. Can you say "1st Purple Heart"? Or, how 'bout "Christmas in Cambodia"?

Give me ONE EXAMPLE of the Swifties changing their story. JUST ONE!

HOW I LOATH THE LEFT.

OK, I think I'm starting to understand the rules:

1) When talking about Vietnam seems to benefit John Kerry, then Vietnam is the most important issue in the campaign, and talking about anything else, including Kerry's Senate record, is evil and disgusting.

2) When talking about Vietnam seems to hurt John Kerry, then talking about Vietnam is evil and disgusting, and we need to talk about current issues--but still not about Kerry's Senate record.

No matter how the MSM spins it, Kerry is in self-inflicted deep doo-doo.

Yes, we must keep on "reforming" until only the professional politicians and the MSM are able to be heard. < /sarcasm >

I was laughing thinking that "Pravda on the Cumberland" must be the Tennessean. Then I opened the paper, and look what was there on the editorial page.

I hate the Tennessean. We only get it on the weekend. My husband likes to read the sports.

They call every week trying to get us to sign up for the paper everyday. I continue to tell them to take me off the list. I do not even want the weekend.

It lost me when it proclaimed John Kerry as a bona fide war hero. Audie Murphy and Sgt. York must be spinning in their graves.

Kerry is a traitor in crapping on his fellow soldiers by pulling a Jane Fonda on them. As a former vet, he will be nothing but a traitor the rest of my life. He can stick all those phony medals he conned out of people also.

How much more "reform" do we need?

We're talking about McCain making a major screw up concerning the right of free speech, and you want to screw it up even more?

At what point do we get to stop "reforming" the Constitution?

And now a message from the mainstream media:

"John Kerry is a war hero! John Kerry is a war hero!"

Again, Mr. Kerry is the one bring up his war record. When it backfires, he wants to forget about it...

John Kerry is a bona fide war hero;

Not according to a bunch of guys serving with him, and saw what was happening.

And, since when do "bona fide war heros" come home after a 4 month tour, throw away their medals, and trash the guys they served with?

It seems you want to forget a lot about Kerry's past, but not Bush's past. Try a little objectivity if you want to be taken seriously.

Did John Kerry lie under oath to Congress when presenting testimony back whenever it was (1969-1970)?

He now states that much of his information on atrocities was from 3rd party information and not by his own hand? 3rd party testimony is not verifiable fact unless names are given to confirm the fact during further testimony. But was anyone else called to confirm the Kerry testimony?
If not, then it was presented as 1st person observation.
Kinda like being in Cambodia on Christmas is seared in the memory??

Did Kerry LIE TO CONGRESS????? Isn't that a crime if he lied under oath??? Does a criminal act committed 35 years ago become less of a crime? Absolutely NOT!!

Unfit for ANY public office is my take, especially President.

"The critical issue here is that the Vietnamese Communists have chosen to honor Senator Kerry in their War Remnants Museum for his assistance in helping them achieve victory over the United States."
