Well guys, "One Bill Gil" Cedillo snuck this monstrosity in as an attachment to some bill the state senate just HAD to pass. (The official story, anyway.) John and Ken just announced that it passed 21 - 14 moments ago, despite an impassioned, intelligent plea against it by Tom McClintock. The bill now moves on the entire assembly, where it is also expected to pass.
So it looks like Arnold will have a bill to either sign or veto after all.
Once more into the breach.
Democrats think death certificates should also be valid ID for voting purposes.
Because I know most of them personally. They have many failings, but they aren't voting for the drivers license bill. Honest.
I expect Homeland Security will come down with some nationwide rules on this, so its all just going to go away in any case.
Joe: Criminals here illegally, of course (a reporter wrote it). Though a halfway measure I consider this a mighty victory against the illegal alien lobby that's had its way up till now.
JB: LOL, death certificates were real valid in Miami a few years back.
"All documents must be originals "
Both of the printouts were marked "original" - I had to send an "original" to get my passport - Check it yourself, you can get as many "originals" as you want.
Do you seriously think that the VA DMV would be able to recognize "originals" produced by tens of thousands of hospitals over decades ?
You obviously missed the part where they say that they may verify the authenticity of the document with the issuing agency.
Also, I didn't post it, but this is what they say in regards to birth certificates:
!Birth document issued by a U.S. state, jurisdiction or
territory (birth documents issued by a hospital and foreign
birth certificates are not accepted).
They ***don't*** accept hospital birth certificates!!!!
wow
... and the State certificates are the "originals" that are printed out by the computer...
Later, ace. Gotta go haunt a trail or two. Tonight's theme: Shelob Lives!
Debate now underway in Assembly
I can't speak for any other states, but the Illinois ones have an embossed seal and aren't valid without it.
Also, almost any sort of important document has a security feature (sometimes more than one) which shows up ONLY under a UV light.
So even if it's "just a computer printout", there are ways to detect forgeries.
Hell, the title to my car was printed from a computer. Gee, I wonder if the state DMV has any trouble telling if THOSE are forged documents or not? I mean, gosh, they have 50 whole states with 50 different vehicle titles to keep track of....
"It has to happen if we want to get this country back on track as a republic where the power truly lies with the people."
I believe the same thing. If we want to get America back, we have to kick out every last incumbent in Washington. Then the next group elected will know "We the People" are watching them and we won't cut them any slack.
First vote... Yes 40 No 35. Bill was "moved to call" while the Dems tried to line up the other vote. Then the call was lifted and final vote taken....
Yes 42 No 35
Measure passed.
Reason I no longer live in California!
Here's the vote by name:
Interesting... in her comments, Garcia stated she was going to abstain.
Yeh I saw that. Parras race is going to be the closest Assembly race in the state and she just sunk herself up in redneck country (Bakersfield)
I don't see Torlakson's name there. Maybe he got tired and went home. I called his office today to oppose SB1152, and the aid said he'd get a message to him on the floor. As if Tommy T. would care that little ol' me would oppose another piece of anti-gun legislation. If I'd been paying attention, I'd have opposed this piece of cr** too.
