John Kerry was the initial instigator of personal attacks upon his fellow Swift Boat officers.

There is one thing that has bothered me from day one about this Swift Boat affair.

Adm. Hoffman & Commander Elliot in 1996 answered the call to defend Kerry against Weld in the very tight US Senate race in MA. They held their noses, praised him highly, and likely saved him.

To prove that no good deed goes unpunished, fast forward to John Kerry's 2004 presidential bid.

Kerry gets a historian by the name of Brinkley to do his official biography. In the released book, "Tour of Duty". John Kerry lashes out accusing both Elliot and Hoffman of being near insane commanders who needlessly caused massive US and civilian causalities and of committing war crimes. Elliot was even likened by Kerry to the mad man Col. Kurtz in the fictional movie, "Apocalypse Now". In the book Kerry embellished & lied about his own heroic (non) exploits while denigrating other Swift Boat officers.

When Adm. Hoffman read the book, he was incensed. Kerry later called Hoffman & offered to re-publish, re-edit, and remove the lies if Hoffman would support him, Hoffman refused the clumsy blackmail attempt. Hoffman then contacted John O'Neill, who was at the time recovering from surgery after have donated a kidney to his wife, and from that conversation, the Swift Boat Vets for Truth group was born

For Kerry, the DNC, liberals and the MWDP to now say these men are attacking Kerry without cause & justification is ludicrous, these veterans are the injured parties, not Kerry.

Kerry in "Tour of Duty" started the vicious personal attacks upon these same men, they who had once answered his call to stand and deliver for him in his time of political peril. What in the hell is the MWDP ranting about? Kerry is the initial perpetrator here of personal attacks upon honorable men, not the victim, as he and the MWDP would have the American people believe.

Another problem I have is the SBVfT have not stated in the strongest possible terms to make their case of being personally attacked first. Kerry was the instigator by using his tactics of horrific unfounded attacks of personal destruction upon his fellow Swift Boat comrades.

He did not just question these veterans veracity and their honor, he directly and deliberately, viciously smeared them in the now thoroughly debunked book of lies, "Tour of Duty", his personally approved auto-biography. This book was based upon his fictional contemporaneous journals & logs. These same false documents, that he will not release for public scrutiny, go to the very heart of John Kerry's character and into his deplorable plan from over 35 years ago to use those documented lies, such as in "TOUR of DUTY" to further his political career, even into the White House.

Now he has the current damnable mess he finds himself in, that he, and he alone, has no one else to blame for. His carefully crafted lies and back stabbing are now coming home to roost. Classic Kerry, he now cries foul, and the willing MWDP are in full frontal attack to pull his chestnuts from the fire.

I'm on page 130 of Unfit for Command. Kerry actually called Hoffman and offered to change the book IF Hoffman didn't proceed with the SwiftVets. I know there is some mention of it today, but this book had me riveted most of the night. I was skeptical at first, but this is the worst of all political opportunists! To me, he wanted to be President someday, and this was his ticket. Even though he was against the war. Then, when he saw the war was unpopular at home, he went to VVAW. Then, he ran for Congress. Then, he met with the NV in Paris. Much later, he meets with Ortega, now he says he's met with other "leaders" who want him to be President. John Kerry to the rescue!!! He completely "gamed" the Purple Hearts. Then, it turns out that after he received PH #3, they asked him to leave. His own journals and Tour of Duty paint him as this reluctant warrior, but the Vets say he was an incompetent warrior. Some of those videos with him wearing the helmet and fatigues with the M-16, STAGED! They didn't wear this stuff on patrol boats. He was commander, and had to be inside the boat. This man is the most flawed individual to run for President since Slick Willie!

In reading the book, I say Kerry is unqualified by his own version of events. Kerry proudly claims that he was constantly giving his superiors a hard time and questioning being sent on combat missions. Really bizarre. You can't read Kerry's own words without feeling you would hate to have this guy as one of your junior officers. Apparently, Kerry claims to have been vocally anti-war even in Vietnam.

The swifties, on the other hand, claim he was a coward to his superiors and never spoke up, but that he was very anti-war with his peers. Either way, this is not my idea of a combat hero.

You caught the part that has my attention: he didn't just smear his fellow 'Swifties' he smeared all of the Vietnam warriors with his pro-enemy testimonies.

He's an idiot and a disloyal idiot at that.

Very interesting. This connects the dots. The kerry kamp has been broadcasting the taped remarks from these two to prove that THEY don't have integrity. Thanks for exposing the truth.

"Kerry later called Hoffman & offered to re-publish, re-edit, and remove the lies if Hoffman would support him,..."

Not entirely correct: Kerry only offered to strike the lies about Hoffman from the as-yet-unpublished paperback edition.

Current and future hardbacks would been unaffected.

Apparently, Kerry claims to have been vocally anti-war even in Vietnam.

He only went to Swift boats for the obvious connections it would make to JFK's PT Boat service. JFK was his early hero and supposed mentor.

It is just that simple.......

What a pig!

You are correct.

He is beneath contempt to vilify his Swift Vet comrades first and then declare that they dare not criticize himself.

Then he goes on to blame George W. Bush, who he had personally smeared (and continues to this very day, from his own disgusting mouth and his surrogates) regarding his service in the National Guard.

I don't think that MWDP will ever catch on. Its insufficiently pithy and alliterative. I think Old Media works best.

I agree. Ursus arctos horribilis has done a nice job here connecting some dots. I heard something similar from Kerry's gunner Gardiner in an interview yesterday.

This theme could be made more convincing with some quotes from Tour of Duty.

I see the true measure of just how deep in sh*t Monsieur Kerry is is the number of elected officials and Democratic Party leaders are standing up with Kerry in his defense. Turn on the TV, and one is bombarded by yelling, screaming maniacs defending Kerry from the Swifties.

Every one of Kerry's blubbering defenders are either once-weres or want-to-bes; no Daschle, no Schumer, no HRC, no Leahy, and on and on. There is only one elected Senator that would defend Kerry without fear of retribution from his constituents, and Kerry's camp is afraid to let Uncle Teddy out of the basement.
