Thanks for the list. Distinguishing between Kerry's stories and reality is what makes this a bit difficult. Maybe I need to do a two column chart with Kerry's version on one side and everyone else's on the other.

Correction: In June 1968 Kerry was promoted to Lieutenant (junior grade), i.e., from O1 [Ensign] to O2 [Lt.(j.g.)]. O3 is a full Lt. in the Navy.

Also, his wife is worth about 800 million $'s not 500,000 $'s.

February 28, 1969: Kerry received a replacement, Fred Short, as a replacement for Alston.

Fred Short remembers it as February 18, memorable because it was also his 21st birthday. That puts him there at the time of Kerry's PH2.

Kerry enlisted in the Naval RESERVES and was activated.

Bush enlisted in the National Guard (like Reserves) and was not activated although he requested Vietnam service and was refused because he didn't have enough flying hours.
