DUBAI (Reuters) - The hostage takers who grabbed Italian journalist Enzo Baldoni on the road between Baghdad and Najaf in Iraq have killed him, the Italian government has confirmed.
"We can confirm it was him, unfortunately," a spokesman for Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Thursday.
Arabic language television channel Al Jazeera said Baldoni's kidnappers killed him because Italy refused to heed their earlier deadline to withdraw troops from Iraq.
"The group calling itself the Islamic Army in Iraq said they executed the Italian journalist Enzo Baldoni because Italy did not respond to their demand to withdraw troops from Iraq within 48 hours," the Arabic language channel Al Jazeera said.

Al Jazeera showed a video of Baldoni, 56, speaking to the camera in front of the group's banner, but no audio could be heard. The television said it would not air footage showing Baldoni's dead body out of respect for his family.
It must mean that the footage is bad for the terrorists and that he fought them or talked back to them before they killed him.

I heard something just in passing this morning on Fox that the video was too "gruesome" for AlJiz, which supports your thought.
AJ likes saving expressions of disrespect for American families.
They said the same thing only when the other Italian hostage called out and said "Now you will see how and Italian dies" and tried to take off the hood of his killer.
This is why I am thinking a similar thing happened here.

And when will these murderers understand that these acts merely serve as proof that they should be viewed and treated as animals? As in, to be put down like rabid dogs.
And when will the rest of the muslim world realize that their deafening silence is their explicit approval for the bloodthirsty evil performed by their brothers?

Such willingness to die for allah needs to be mercifully provided. Just my $.02.
