Here is a link to the story in our Sunday paper. According to the article, there were people bused in but thank goodness it wasn't the 3000 that the lead-off story for this thread had in it. Those that were bused in came from Chapel Hill, that bastion of liberalism. I wonder if there were actually that many locals there. I wish I knew. I hope it wouldn't have been too many. It would give me more faith in my fellow citizens here.

From The Fayetteville Observer:
Ted Sampley led a vocal counter rally from Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry. The group does not support Bush and is only interested in making sure Kerry does not become president, Sampley said.

He said Kerry "forfeited the right to be commander-in-chief" when he began protesting the war in Vietnam. Sampley said Kerry's comments about soldiers in Vietnam being war criminals were an insult. "I never witnessed anything like that. It was very painful for me to hear," he said.

Sampley and his supporters heckled and chanted throughout the speeches. Sampley, a Vietnam veteran who fought with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in April 1966 and as a Green Beret in 1969, yelled, "Kerry lied while good men died" and "Kerry is a traitor."

Ted was great. Soon after it started, I walked down near the front of the stage for a couple of camera shots. As TaxRelief said earlier, Ted could be heard easily. It must have been annoying to them !

Thanks for the ping and the report. Great job with the reporter. Who knows, maybe some of it will stick.

BTW, you are definitely 'the better half'.

How could one be proud of marching next to a pink 15' inflatable penis. Looked like a bunch of freaks and hippies. I saw a few "average" looking people mixed in there. They didn't really even seem passionate about their cause. Jessie Jackson and the fat high school drop out M. Moore spoke to the "hundreds and hundreds of thousands, as the media reported it" at the end of the march.

Cool ping list, but that's an F-106... we need to find a pic with a 111th FIS F-102... LOL

PS I gotta wonder how Kerry went over in Fayetteville, when his daughters got booed at the MTV Awards... (no class! I mean, I can't stand the guy but I'd never abuse his daughters... they didn't pick their father). Anyway, I kinda suspect that the Kerry campaign has all the appeal along the gun shop row on Yadkin Road that one might expect. -C18F
