Once again, a brave band of Freepers assembled in Santa Monica outside the Fairmont Miramar at the corner of Ocean and Wilshire to freep John Kerry's $5,000 a plate fundraiser. Deep in the Land of the Limousine Liberal, we attacked the beast with our coolest and most colorful signs and costumes yet!
Ron's organizing skills were paramount in finding this "top-secret" event, but through diligent handling of sources, he was able to scope it out. Follow us, he says, and you'll visit a political world few get to see!
Freeper DoodleLady was already there when Ron arrived. Her SUV was the ideal HQ/changing station for our costumed characters Flipper and The Grinch.
Flipper and The Gtinch, complete with Santa Suit and appropriately mean Grinch mask. A great act!
The motorcade came southbound on Wilshire. Right at 6, we went th the corner of 2nd and Wilshire so we would be sure to get them coming ... And going at our main post on Ocean and Wilshire.
At 5:00 there was Doodlelady and Ron. 5:15 we had Genivive, her friend Al as Flipper the Dolphin. Ryan of the college Republicans was The Grinch. And Kerry saw us all!
I came late, as usual, and got plenty of pictures that will be on the site shortly.
Channel 7 was there and we think we got coverage - watch for us at the news tonight!
I'm posting this during our after-rally party with my t-mobile sidekick. Pictures are coming soon!
Wowsa! I was at the next table, at the after freep "bash" and witnessed you typing and sending this action-report in person!!
Truly Amazing!!
It's a good thing Freepers
Reported for Duty tonight!
Land of The Free
bump!
I know Ron loves to inline the pictures into the thread and he'll probably choose the best ones.
Incidentally, we had a post-party freep where I spotted the SMPD motorcycles start to peel out, pointed them out to Ron, and he and I went over and saw the Kerry motorcade going out. It took them about 20 minutes from when they closed the street to when the motorcade zoomed out. I have to wonder if such obtrusive security precautions were truly wise; it would have probably been safer to just let them leave in a bulletproof limo without all the hoopla and street closures and the like. It was especially curious to see traffic held up for so long. Not that this is a political issue; I'm sure Bush gets even more obsessive treatment.
Anyway, you'll see motorcade pictures at the end.
I'm really tired; more later.
Hope you enjoy!

Technology certainly does let us do some pretty darn cool things. It's not as good an after-action report as I could have written from my living room, because pecking stuff out on that keyboard is downright painful compared to how I can type here. But now I'm really tired so it's probably just as well that I did the report there.
Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Sen. John F. Kerry on Thursday wrapped up a Midwest campaign swing by challenging President Bush to weekly debates, then traveled to Santa Monica where he raised about $3 million for the Democratic effort to capture the White House...-- snip --

I personally like the idea of dressing up as SANTA CLAUS......to shift the focus from the difficult to resolve (he said, they said) issues about Kerry's fraudulent medals...
...to his PROVEN lies about "Christmas in Cambodia" ...CLICK HERE for the rest of that thread
You and Chieftain need to get a rolling convoy going!
...LAST NIGHT at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., political fund-raiser Sim Farar pulled in $3 million for candidate John Kerry, at a star-studded $50,000 a plate benefit, where Tony Bennett performed. Kerry and John Edwards hope the ka-ching from this final L.A. cash stop will help support media ads in the 17 "battleground states.""...at a star-studded $50,000 a plate benefit..." ?
...On Thursday evening in the Los Angeles area, the Massachusetts senator delivered the same hard-times message to a well-appointed crowd who listened to Tony Bennett croon at a fund-raiser that organizers said banked more than $3 million for the Democrats. In the last year, Kerry told the crowd at a Santa Monica hotel...
What great pics! Lol @ Santa Grinch and flipper. You all did a good job. The signs were really well done. I really wish I could have been there.
Btw, we saw a shot of you foks on the local Fox 11 news :-D
Hey, I'm a blonde LA girl. What do you want from me? ;)
I COULD make a couple of suggestions.
I don't want to say anything here in public, but let's just say it involves a large jar of chocolate syrup and a can of ready-whip.
A sickmind is a terrible thing to waste
Tony Bennett is praying for forgiveness for performing at this event?
What great pics! And, this just in, from the "vast right wing" San Francisco Chronicle:Lol @ Santa Grinch and flipper.
You all did a good job.

Santa Monica -- John Kerry rolled into Democrat-friendly California on Thursday night, raising money and meeting with Hollywood supporters on a last campaign trip before next week's Republican convention.
Kerry's western swing took him to a Santa Monica fund-raiser Thursday and will bring him to San Francisco and Daly City today as he scrambled to deal with attacks on his military record in Vietnam...

...Kerry's dinner in Santa Monica drew the Democratic faithful. They were met by a handful of protesters who held a brief demonstration in front of the hotel, the Fairmont Miramar. For 20 minutes or so, a couple of dozen protesters gathered across the street from the hotel. One wore a Flipper costume, complaining about Kerry's alleged flip-flops on some issues, and another wore a Grinch outfit, complete with a lime green mask, criticizing Kerry's claim to have been in Cambodia at one point during his tour of duty as a highly decorated naval officer during the Vietnam War.
Inside the hotel, singer Tony Bennett was the featured entertainment for the few hundred supporters who paid $5,000 a plate to hear Kerry speak in a modest-sized ballroom. Some of the stars who showed up included Anjelica Huston and her husband, the sculptor Robert Graham.
Some people in the audience were worried about Kerry's campaign...

In spite of their attempted SPIN, apparently our little "street theater" DID get through to the Kerry RATs inside. :o)As President Bush might say:
"Mission ACCOMPLISHED!"
You are very bad for not reminding me yesterday.
You were only a few bocks away!!!!
I completely forgot.....until Dan came home complaining about roadblocks & limos & police.....took him 40 minutes to get thru 2 miles of Santa Monica. People were pissed off.
You made it home!
I rolled into San Diego around 11:OOpm...
couldn't log on due to Internet problems, or so I thought.
Just discovered my cable connection to the modem
has been LOOSE all this time. Here I thought it was
a virus!!!! LOL
Looks like we missed all the fun of freeping Kerry
again as he slithered away.
Your boys are just terrific...it was SO GOOD to see you
three again. Your clown sign was the PERFECT foil
for that Kerry zombie with his lame clown sign. LOL
BTW, thanks for the heads-up about the John Ziegler
show on KFI... kept me awake that last hour of driving.
Great Job!
David, your pics are wonderful...thank you so much.
The last ones of the creepy Kerry motorcade...
can't you just hear Darth Vader music in the background?
Ron, you always seem to be in the right place at the
right time...
Can't believe you guys got to DOUBLE FREEP the Creep!
