HOUSTON White non-Hispanics are no longer the majority in Texas -- for the first time since the 1800's.
Today's Census Bureau survey says whites stopped being the majority in Texas as of last year.
Also, the numbers show that Texas joined only Illinois and North Carolina in having a poverty rate that measurably increased -- while income decreased -- in 2002-03.
Texas state demographer Steve Murdock says the two trends are related as economic woes have slowed white migration from other states.
Luis Figueroa with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund says the future of Latinos is the future of Texas, as the population numbers show.
Also:
-- Most of the Texas population expansion since 2000 has come from births and international immigration -- both sources of predominantly Hispanic growth.
-- The black population remained basically flat, at around ten-point-eight percent.
-- Asian-Americans now account for about three percent of the Texas population.
Poor Texan's having to support all them minority white people takin' their jobs.
That is soooo true. My dad had 6 kids, my sister 4 kids, two of my brothers have had 4 kids and my other brother is working on his 2nd kid; I plan on making 4 or 5 myself.... It's because we don't need viagra as we get older.... and that my Hispanic family works real hard to support their families.....
Yep, I am very proud of my Hispanic heritage, and I am very proud of my very large growing family...

I've looked into this carefully, and have come to conclude that Hispanics in the US in aggregate are no more than 40% registered Catholics, while 60% are Protestant or nothing. The rate among new arrivals is lower and continues to sink. Don't listen to the contrary propaganda some put out. Just look around you and observe.

This would be true if there weren't so many Republicans that act as if they want to run off non-white members.

How do your comments change what I outline on my map? Just look at the voting trends in the SW and the north-cnetral since 1984.

Voting trends---Gray Davis out, Arnold in- 40-50% Hispanics voted for Bush in TX.... Cubans in FL... CO... NV... AZ ....
But those damn English people and folks from Canada... man they really stink, they keep taking all of the great acting jobs... and those Germans!!! Taking all of our Engineering jobs; oh, and don't get me started on those Indians taking our software jobs!!! And those damn Chinese, they are even taking a bunch of gold in the Olympics!!! If this is a debate about illegal aliens; then make it so, if not, remember that nearly 150,000 Hispanics serve in the armed forces... and fill several honorable positions through out our society; They also go to church a lot more than any other demographic; I'll take 1 morally correct Hispanic who goes to church than 30 spoiled brats from Carmel who went to prep school and practices socialism openly as a democrat.
No --- they'll get very very large tax hikes to pay for the poverty of the third world moving in.

aside from Cubans, middle class South and Central American professionals (read: more likely Euro-Hispanics) and a few old timey Mexicans here and there, most "hispanics" and sadly Brasilians too vote Dem. Puerto Ricans and Dems vote Dem at as high a rate as blacks. Mexicans (outside of Tejas) voted about 70% for Gore did they not and in barrios in LA and other Kali Mex-enclaves, they voted the same as blacks in East St Louis or Jackson Mississippi.
The stats show it all too plainly.
We are committing national cultural and political suicide here.
Of course, I'm voting for W anyhow only cause I imagine the Dems will do us in faster.
With the Pubs we may wake up one day. With the Dems we will never do such...no chance.

I guess you haven't been paying attention to the elections in Mexico --- "hispanics" are electing PRI and PRD to state governor and Congress. Also if you think they're especially pro-life, you ought to come to the border and see all the abortion clinics --- with cars with Mexican plates parked at them. Very few are strongly pro-life where it would be more important than a bigger welfare check or free health care is.
As a Sout American HISPANIC, who interacts and finds many common bonds with Mexicans- all over; 33% of all HISPANICS vote Republican, and is growing. Meanwhile, nearly 50% of all ANGLOS vote Democrat....Democrat!!! 70% of the population is ANGLO!!! We are commiting national suicide allowing for these ANGLO socialist to vote and share our society with our children...
