Secretary of State gets special permission for overseas troops.
Missouri's Secretary of State says some members of the military will be allowed by vote by e-mail in the November elections. Matt Blunt says people in serving in combat overseas can complete their ballots, scan and e-mail them to the Department of Defense. The department will then forward the ballots to the appropriate local election officials. Blunt had asked about the option after some in the military stationed in Iraq reported trouble submitting absentee ballots for this month's state primaries.
Never trust the Pentagon in this one.
I dont know about this. As many changes as there is to AKO, I would worry about lost data.
How exciting for our troops. This can make a difference, that is if other states follow suit. Read about it, research this idea and perhaps a letter to your editor suggesting this type of voting method!!
Fair enough, but, if it could work, then we need to give this as an option.
Frankly neither had I. This was breaking just a bit ago. I have not check my AKO account to see if this is posted there. But, anyway to ensure our troops can vote, by gosh ensure it.
Why wouldn't a fax of the ballot be accepted? This is a computer scan of the ballot.
What is done with the original ballot?
It is easier to check a physical ballot for tampering than to examine a scanned image and make sure that the intent was not changed.
I think that it is good that something can be done to circumvent the post office who have been known to slow delivery of ballots to the home states.
Blunt (R) is running for Governor. This move is good for those in the military and good for Blunt..... unless someone screws up the ballots.
Bump!
