MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican federal police arrested a people smuggler who sneaked illegal immigrants, including Iraqis and Iranians, into the United States, the attorney-general's office said on Wednesday.
Police detained Agustin Chan Montoya as he left his home in the city of Mexicali, near the border with California.
The attorney-general's office said Chan Montoya was one of the people smugglers most sought by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.
His clients were often "of Asian origin, including Iraqis and Iranians," the attorney-general's office said. He helped them reach Mexicali by plane and then cross into California.
Security analysts say the U.S-Mexican border is potentially a weak spot in the U.S. fight against terror, but the Mexican authorities did not say whether any of the illegal immigrants smuggled by Chan Montoya were suspected of terror links.
Mexico has tightened security on the border since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
Thousands of illegal immigrants enter the United States through the 2,000-mile border with Mexico every day, often with the help of people smugglers.

Don't know about the Iraquis, but in three months the Iranians will be selling trinkets to 99 cent stores, in two years, they will own the 99 cent store, in five years they will own the shopping center containing the 99 cent store and in ten years they will be millionaires thanks to real estate.
Then again, they can also be terrorists.

I really liked this observation:
Security analysts say the U.S-Mexican border is potentially a weak spot in the U.S. fight against terror....
And all this time I thought we were catching them at the airports....would you like some salsa with your hummas? Se habla Farsi?

And they pay no workers comp, like the rest of Americans have to do, as they only hire family members and extended family. That's how all these people do it. We went to a Asian place the other night for their chicken bowl special, and I got to talking to the owner.....Everyone in the restaurant was family, I am talking 7 or so people. He winked and said, we never pay for WC.
Hey, it's great if you can do that, unfortunately, most of us can't.
