No way. Never in a million years.
Bush should continue to stay miles above this dog fight, which is essentially between the Vietnam Veterans who were wronged by Kerry, and the desparate Kerry campaign which now finds themselves at the bottom of a big, mud-filled hole.
The best thing President Bush can do is just stay away and keep repeating his mantra that the 527s are wrong (even though I don't necessarily think so, and perhaps the Bush team doesn't either.)
No pony rides here today. You may want to try Neverland Ranch.
"if you know how to do that."
:) There in lies the problem.
Kerry reminds me of a grown-up in a Buster Brown suit throwing a fit and having a tantrum when things don't go his way. Oh, Lord, please spare us such a person as Commander-in Chief.
Here is a report about the person who was to accept the letter. It is quite humorous.
A Texas state official and Vietnam veteran, Jerry Patterson, said someone from the Bush campaign contacted him Wednesday morning and asked him if he would travel to the ranch, welcome Cleland to Texas and accept the former senator's letter to Bush.
"I tried to accept that letter and he would not give it to me," said Patterson. "He would not face me. He kept rolling away from me. He's quite mobile."
Oh...I don't know....
Maybe because the Kerry Campaign has now proven to be indistinguishable from the Jerry Springer Show?
Nah...then he would have been portrayed as bending over to Kerry supporters. He doesn't LIKE these people. He has no respect for them, and their whining only earns them more derison from him. The decision not to meet with them and give them a photo op at his expense was a personal one. Much like his refusal to walk into an NAACP "I hate Bush Fest".
Cleland Tries to Deliver Letter to Bush
The senators signing the letter to Bush included Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, Ernest "Fritz" Hollings of South Carolina, Tom Harkin of Iowa, Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Tom Carper of Delaware and Jon Corzine and Frank Lautenberg, both of New Jersey.
ALL OF THE USUAL SUSPECTS.
Is it true that Mr. Cleland's injuries aren't combat related? I read somewhere that he was playing around with a grenade and it went off. True or false?
The Bush team has done the correct calculation. This is a transparent stunt that everyone recognizes as such. Ignore it--politely--but ignore it.
The rats are getting creative.
Lights camera...action!
Time for old Max to hit the gym.
Looks like Rasmussen could use a couple of laps around the yard, too.
Oh, I wouldn't feel bad for old Max. He's not doing this for his health. It's obvious he wants a choice position in a Kerry administration.
LOL... WHAT? You mean a stair stepper???? Sheesh.
Bush should have come out... said "hey Max, how are you. Thanks for the letter. I'll read it this afternoon. Have a great trip back. Later!"
Maybe Bush wasn't home. Maybe he is heading to the Olympics. I haven't been around today to know where he is.
That is why Bush should have - ahem - disarmed Cleland's political ploy with an invite in.
"Student Name: Cleland, Max
Course Name: Hand Grenade Throwing
Grade: F
Comments: When the pin is pulled Mr. Grenade is not our friend."
(Not Funny Darth!)
I agree, it's not funny!
