Later this morning, Max Cleland and Jim Rasmann will arrive uninvited at President Bush's ranch in Crawford to hand deliver a letter signed by nine Democratic senators urging the President to 'recognize this blatant attempt at character assassination' and publicly condemn the swift boat ads.
The letter was signed by Sens. Daniel Inouye, Tom Carper, Jon Corzine, Tom Harkin, Fritz Hollings, Frank Lautenberg, Jack Reed, Bill Nelson, and Jeff Bingaman.
Camp Kerry, which alerted the media of their plans last night, concedes that Cleland and Rassman will 'likely be turned away' --something we're not sure the Bush/Cheney team would allow to pass.
Sensing an anti-Bush backlash on a story that caught John Kerry flat footed a week ago, however, this move will generate the pictures needed to sustain the story for another news cycle.
With every passing day, new reports are fueling Camp Kerry's hopes that they can turn this issue into a positive.

I hope our guys are on the way to Camp Kerry to demand that Kerry denounce F911 and Moveon.org.

I'd like to see W give them a glass of tea and have a little spontaneous press conference on the porch.....could be good.
When Kerry slinks back to the Seante he will have used up all his chits and favors for stunts like this.
But it might set a bad precedent - Michael Moore would be next.
And Hillary's 527 while we are at it!
Good...glad Ole Max is there...the Crawford baseball team needs a second base...some MSM reporter stole it earlier in the summer.
Only 9 HAHAHAHAHAHA! TOAST!
Paul Gallanti: John Kerry gave the enemy for free what I, and many of my, uh, comrades in North Vietnam, in the prison camps, uh, took torture to avoid saying. It demoralized us.
John Kerry: . . . ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam.
Paul Gallanti: He dishonored his country, and, uh, more, more importantly the people he served with. He just sold them out.
Sen. Cleland, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Sensing an anti-Bush backlash????? Huh?
Daniel Inouye, Tom Carper, Jon Corzine, Tom Harkin, Fritz Hollings, Frank Lautenberg, Jack Reed, Bill Nelson, and Jeff Bingaman.
So these idiots want to be on record denouncing free speech for patriotic Vietnam War Vets. I'll save the list for later.
Yeah, but it'd still be a class act and maybe show the boys what manners are. Okay, that is asking a little much.

Never underestimate the power of cognitive dissonence. Remember the press and 45% of the population has no trouble pressing past the sins and crimes of Bill Clinton.
There will be no "win" on this from a conservative standpoint. The best that can happen is that the undecided 5-10% finally determinet that Kerry is a bigger weazel than they can stomach. And we won't know that until November.
I keep picturing the hand grenade on a wooden base with the # tag on it. "And the base says complaint dept. take a #" can't find a picture though.
