E-mail to Candidate Kerry #14
From: James (Cooter) Thompson
re: Swift Boats, Bad Choices
Dear Senator Kerry:
Last Saturday night, a bunch of us from here in Lagniappe went to the drag races over to Hadleyville. We went mostly to cheer on Lorna Gibbs who is Armen Yazoo's cousin and was matched up against Frank Gaston who owns Frank's Welding. It was Ford versus Chevy, too. Ol' Frank red-lighted twice and was way down the track in his one fair start.
As you probably know, drag races are over mighty quick. There is a quantity of time spent waiting between races. I can tell you, Senator, that a goodly part of that waiting time was spent talking about your campaign.
We been expecting you to clear up the questions arising out of your decision to make your Vietnam service the keystone of your campaign. Some of the folks in the crowd was guessing at your motivation for that move. After all, it was a long time ago and doesn't bear directly on whether you should become President. What was on your mind was what people wanted to know.
Some of the folks we were gassing withsome from Frank's crowd, some from Lorna'sthought it was cover for your activities in the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. You know, a diversionary attack to draw the voters' attention away from your touring the country, testifying to atrocities and calling your comrades and commanders war criminals.
There was some people figured you was hoping to obscure your flip-flop position on the war we are currently fighting. Others maintained that you wanted to get the voters thinking about your military career, such as it was, rather than your career in the Senate when you voted time and again to reduce military and Intelligence funding.
Armen Yazoo met up with a guy who said you are trying to counter the Democrats' image as anti-Americans hoping we lose this war, too. You know, the Michael Moore point of view which you have never disassociated yourself from. Quite the contrary, you have hugged Moore though it ain't clear he thinks much of you or your military adventures up Mekong creek.
So, there it is, people around these parts doubt you have made a correct call focusing your attention on your time as a Swift Boat captain. But there is another reason you should not have done that.
You set in motion against you the great resources of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people on the World Wide Web. In spite of the obstinate silence of the major mainstream media, info regarding your Cambodian Christmas penetrated their numskulls and forced your allies in the media to concede. There no longer is any question concerning your Cambodian Christmas story. It's a story, fiction, you made it up and repeated it numerous times including once on the Senate floor years later.
But maybe that ain't the worst of it. From the depths of the Internetwell, maybe that is too dramatic, we've seen it a few placesit turns out your Silver Star got questions attached. Your own website shows that your Silver Star has got a V for valor attached. That is strange and unusual. Since the Silver Star is awarded for gallantry under enemy fire, what is the point of adding a V? Doesn't make sense and it is contrary to Navy regs.
Further, it turns out you got your Silver Star awarded you 3 timesthe same engagement but three times. The first one is undated and signed by Admiral Zumwalt, the second likewise undated but differing materially in its description of your heroics and signed by Admiral Hyland. The third one is years later, and it is signed by the Secretary of the Navy, John Lehman. You can read all about this in a neat article by Professor Henry Mark Holzer in FrontPage Magazine.
Curiouser and curiouser. See what a mess you stirred up and haven't faced up to!
It has turned out that John O'Neil and his Swift Veterans are legit. Among a lot of other good points, they say your first purple heart was a scratch you got firing a rocket grenade too close to your own boat and didn't happen under enemy fire. Me and Boudreau and Armen Yazoo, too, are convinced they are right.
Your campaign's response, trying to get the O'Neil book, Unfit for Command withdrawn from circulation, complaining to the Federal Election Commission, and complaining that some rich Republicans put up the money to publish and publicize it, (surprise!it wasn't George Soros and Barbra Streisand) don't put you in a good light. As a matter of plain fact, you are looking awful right now.
We don't want to say we told you so, but we did.
Sincerely,
Cooter (with the help of J. Boudreau, A. Yazoo, and A. Trentino)
Like it!
Thanks
Very good :-)
Yup, you done did it now boy.

Excellent! Smart Humor destroy the libs when it is wrapped around the truth.

There is one way for the truth to get out. The Swift Vets need donations to buy more time for their tv ads. We must support them like we support Free Republic with some of our treasure loaned to us by God. The link below can be used for the first or repea donations for the Truth.

You never know what kind of conversation goes on between heats at the drags.
