KERRY MAKES ILLEGAL PHONE CALL TO SWIFT BOAT VETERAN
Newsmax ^ | 8/25/04

Of course, if serving in Vietnam were the primary qualification to be president, the United States would need thousands of Oval Offices, but John Kerry, trying to avoid his Senate record, chose to make a four-month stint decades ago the centerpiece of his campaign. And every day now he must be regretting that decision.

Kerry's latest faux pas: calling Vietnam veteran Robert "Friar Tuck" Brant and asking if he knew about that awful group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

"I said, 'I am one, John,'" Brant said.

The Massachusetts Democrat failed to note that Brant had appeared at a news conference announcing the group in May.

"There was a moment of hesitation, and he said, `I appreciate your honesty.' He said, `Well, why are you?'"

Brant reminded Kerry of his depiction of veterans as war criminals. "I said, `You know that's not true,'" Brant recalled to the Associated Press. "That's been simmering in me about 35 years."

The New York Post reported today: "Sean McCabe, a spokesman for the 264-member organization, said it plans to send a cease-and-desist letter warning Kerry 'to stop calling our members,' because it's an independent '527' group and it's illegal for campaigns to contact them."

The senator was breaking the law and should have immediately ended the call when Brant said he was a member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" reported this morning.

At a Democrat fund-raiser last night in Philadelphia, Kerry tried to defend his anti-U.S. activism even though communist torturers used his discredited congressional testimony in 1971 to add to the suffering of American POWs.

"You can judge my character, incidentally, by that," Kerry

told the Democrat crowd.

Gladly.

The rule of law applies only to those annoying Scum Baby-Killing Veterans (i.e. any veteran who does not support ShoveIt!®'s beard) and the Little People (i.e. conservatives). On the other hand, the RATs brought these laws into the world and they can take them out at their discretion, and you WILL NOT object to it. Is that clear?

(sarcasm OFF)

O'Reilly stated that he felt that both camps were working with the 527's. How rich, Bill.

The Democrats and their 527's have admitted ties and working together on ad campaigns. There are no direct links between Bush's campaign and pro-Bush 527's, just people who support pro-Bush 527s happen to also support Bush. Well Duh.

Yeh. The next MOAB to hit Kerry is going to be the documentary being put together by former POW's who are not part of the SBV group. The POW's represent another faction (I'm not sure whether they have even formed a 527).

The SBVFT has to produce an ad that shows hundreds of thousands of vets (in a football stadium perhaps) booing at the prospect of a JFn'K presidency.

that's TALENT!!

Could you edit that picture of Kerry scratching his cheek while before the Senate to show Kerry picking his nose instead? Everything is perfect if you could just lower his arm a bit...
I don't know how to attach a jpg or I would do it.

I thought that Kerry was supposed to be a brilliant lawyer.

What happened to: "If you don't already know the answer, don't ask the question?"

I'm willing to bet Kerry knows a way not only to get US to pay for the call but a way to pocket some cash along the way.

My new favorite 527 story involves attorney Ben Ginsberg, and advisor to the Bush campaign who is being accused of coordinating with the SBVfT by counseling them on how to comply with the 527 regulations.

You can't make this stuff up.

We know it, the MSM knows it, but rest assured, the slack jawed open mouth droolers watching Oprah will never know skerry even called the SBVfT, let alone he broke the law.

MSM, we decide to report what the American people should, or should not know.

Yep...the Kerry camp is so busy with the SBVT they keep crying about not focusing on the issues yet they themselves refuse to ignore the SBVT....

GW just keeps on trucking.....with the issues and Kerry's record on those issues...

Come debate time...ole Lurch will need a 55 gal drum of Bottulism Toxin injected into his cadevarious puss to iron out the worry lines...He's gonna look like a sand wash after a Monsoon rain in the mountains..

I think Bush (the Bush campaign) is doing a pretty poor job of attacking Kerry. The Swifties are landing blows about Kerry's Vietnam lies, but Bush needs to be bashing Kerry's exclusive focus on those 4 months.

The President's reelection campaign needs to point out and mock Kerry's constant focus on the 0.58 percent of his life in Vietnam and his ignoring the 33% of his life he has been a Senator...without a single major bill. Kerry has passed no law with his name on it. His one effort, the Kerry Amendment, was an effort to gut our intelligence service in the wake of the first terrorist attack on the WTC. The President needs to attack 'the rest of the story' because Kerry is quite happy to have the focus exclusively on Vietnam. Even the hammering he is taking on Vietnam is better than having to answer for his total lack of legislative accomplishment. In Vietnam, by virtue of his rank, he can portray himself as a leader. In the Senate, he cannot. And leadership is what Bush needs to make the decisive issue in this election.

Since when have the Rats ever been concerned about the rules? Here they are trying to suppress and censor the Swift Boat Vets' right to freedom of speech by demanding that President Bush denounce and banish the SBV's adds while MoveOn.Org continues their hate commercials. Un-freakin-believeable.

This is great. I sure hope this is the beginning of the end of Kerry-Edwards, and that implosion is imminent.

The mushy-middle morons really need to wake up and take notice of this a--hole. Viet Nam and his testimony before Congress were carefully-calculated photo ops for him and his presidential aspirations.

After all this comes to light, if he somehow manages to get elected, just beam me up, Scotty. Put a fork in us. We're done. ¡Vive la revolución!
