I'm ready to explode!
Vanity | 08/25/2004 | self

Posted on 08/24/2004 9:35:41 PM PDT by Conservative_Rob

I'm ready to explode - literally to explode!!  The press, once called the “Fourth Estate” has now become a 5th column.  Everything Kerry says is not only G-d’s Gospel truth, but pure as the wind swept snow.  Whereas, anything said by anyone who happens to disagree, is a lie, not only a lie, but a provable lie – as long as you use Kerry’s notes, Kerry’s photos, Kerry’s movies, Kerry’s “witnesses”, and Kerry’s supporters’ explanations to refute them.  There is not one example of objectivity to be seen in any mass market media outlet.  It’s like Joseph Goebbels was somehow cloned in secret and is running the “so-called” mainstream media.

The press was supposed to protect us from the government by shining a spotlight of truth on their shenanigans.  Who’s going to protect us from the press???

This entire Swift Boat episode reminds me of the stongarm tactics and press coverup in “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”.  There’s Congressman Jefferson Smith (John O’Neil) eloquently speaking to the empty House chamber believing that, in time, the American people will come around to his side when the truth gets out.  While all the time the Taylor machine (John Hurley) is making sure the press reports what Senator Paine (John Kerry) wants them to print and runs roughshod over the newsboys (veterans) who are trying to get the truth out.

I’m a student of history and a fan of old movies.  Some have compared John Kerry to Martin Sheen in “Apocalypse Now”, but I believe that there’s an even better example.

In the 1965 Otto Preminger movie “In Harm’s Way” starring John Wayne as Admiral “Rock” Torrey, Patrick O’Neal played the opportunistic Congressman Neal Owynn who hoped to take his war record (as the PR rep for a grandstanding general who couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag) to the White House.  John Kerry has combined Neal Owynn with Lt. (j.g.) Jeremiah Torrey, the son of Admiral Torrey, who, as a very young boy, was left behind with his mother’s rich northeast liberal family after his father divorced his mother to escape the condescension of the in-laws.  When Rock and Jere meet again, Lt. Torrey is a skipper on a PT boat.  Admiral Torrey is impressed with Lt. Torrey’s volunteering for such a dangerous assignment, but Lt. Torrey responds to the effect that this assignment is only a resume enhancement to help him get on to the grandstanding general’s staff.  He even mentions that he is against “Roosevelt’s War”.

When I found out that the only reason John Kerry volunteered for Swift Boat duty was because he thought it would only consist of harbor patrol, I immediately pictured that movie scene from “In Harm’s Way”.

There’s a thousand and one things the press could be doing to help the American people make an informed and intelligent choice when they vote for President in November.  Instead, they’re doing a million and one things to make sure that President is John Kerry.

Everyone in the press is now bemoaning the influence and nastiness of the 527 groups – excuse me, the REPUBLICAN 527 groups (you see, 527 groups that support Kerry and tear down Bush are OK because they are telling the truth while those REPUBLICAN 527 groups are lying).  I’m now back to where I started when I began writing this down.  Democrats – truthful, REPUBLICANS – liars, and the media is reporting it just that simply and just that blatant.  It is so transparent and so obvious that I’m afraid for the future of this country.

I’m witnessing 1932 Germany, and I see all of the Democrats and their willing accomplices in the press with their arms outstretched toward John Kerry yelling “Bush lied, men died”.  Soon we’ll be seeing spray painted political slurs on the Republican National Committee storefronts in small towns all over America.  Are we headed for a conservative Krystalnact??  Just look at how some Hollywood celebrities are running from the label “REPUBLICAN” like it’s some kind of dirty word.  We’re at the brink of book burning for G-d’s sake!!

America is asleep and the press is singing soft lullabies and rocking the cradle, while, at the same time, opening the window and motioning for Brian David Mitchell and David Westerfield to come on in.

WAKE UP BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!

Old Media is irrelevant. They have made themselves so.

New Media is the way to go and everyone knows it. I'd put Freeper research (new media) up against any reporter in the MSM today with the exception of Bill Gerts.

"Who’s going to protect us from the press???"

Where would we be without the internet?

Just be grateful you have alternate news sources. During the days of the Vietnam war, the alphabet channels really did have complete control of the news. Remember: Walter Cronkite and his buddies helped Kerry and Fonda convince the American public to surrender in Vietnam.

Folks, the only way we are ever going to get objective, unbiased news coverage is to hit them in the pocketbook. Subscribe to Direct TV or Comcast or Verizon...cancell Time Warner, NYT, LA Times, Boston Globe etc. etc. All I can think of presently, please post other names.

Funny ~ Me, too!

I used to wonder about the French Revolution, and how they could put (almost) innocent folks under the blade. I have since looked up blueprints for guillotines.

re: Old Media is irrelevant. They have made themselves so.

You'd like to think so, but let's face it.. half of the people in this country still vote democratic and many of them are simply and easily guided/misled via Rather/Jennings/Brokaw/CNN etc.

If we were a nation of critical thinking folks who actually worked a little bit to get the news and actually thought about things (rather than just be driven by misguided emotions or Pagan goalposts), then you'd be right.

I'm afraid you're observation is way too early.

The problem is, the vast majority of the electorate in America does not do the research and dig for the truth the way we do. I have a co-worker who told me that his wife happened to go to see F911. She actually believed that she was witnessing a serious documentary. She was so dumbfounded that Bush was sooooo bad. It took a lot of paper from my inkjet to finally prove to her that F911 is fiction! What America sees is was I am outlining - and they believe what they see. We are the minority - at least we're not silent.

You got it Peach. The only thing MSM reports today is Dem talking points. No research just regurgitation.
I can't keep up with Freeper research. There's too much that's too good, backed up by real sources not un named sources.

Nice rant.

But don't worry. Be happy.

Bush is going to win big in November.

I was listening to NPR today (I know, I know...don't ask). They were talking about the swift boat vets. Anyway, they described how the New York Times and the Boston Globe had published reports of inconsistencies in their stories. Its all very incestuous. One outlet distorts something, the others pick it up, and Voila! A lie is born.

Old Media is not irrelevant. Huge numbers of Americans believe what's on The Big Three, and if it's not on The Big Three, in their minds it doesn't exist.

I'd call that relevant.
