You're full of it I've played beach volleyball for years and the amount of physical strength, endurance, and strategy to play the game is incredible.

Have YOU ever played serious beach volleyball????

I got your back!

Seriously, it's a sport. The sprinters wear very tight clothing as well. Beach volley/beach attire, there is a connection.

I have to disagree, 2 on 2 volleyball is not easy.

Neither is bowling, cheerleading, hiking in the hills, squash, handball, or NASCAR driving; but they all sure as heck don't belong in the Olympics!

just my opinion...

HAHAHAHAHA! I took my my best friend's little girl, age 6, to a local aquatic center when a diving club was practicing. She saw the guys in their swimsuits and said, 'how come those guys are wearing underwear in the pool?' LOLOLOLOL. Kids.

As someone who plays beach v-ball, there simply isn't anything that you can wear that is comfortable. The amount of running, diving, etc. in the sand means anything you wear is going to turn into a thong. I hate when that happens. ;)

"she has "THE" perfect bottom"

I disagree. I think Romanian Catalina Ponor is perfection. She's mesmerizing.

Any Olympic competition with the word "synchronized" in it should be eliminated.

Curling (winter game Bowling with brooms)

I call it "ice shuffleboard".

Tip: Any time there's a Trivial Pursuit question in the "sports" category which has the form, "which sport has [some weird-sounding thing you've never heard of before]?", nine times out of ten the correct answer is "curling".

If it has competition between two or more teams or individuals, and the winner is determined by that head to head competition, then it is a sport.

And one tough sport that should be eliminated: Girls wrestling.

Here's what I don't understand... they called it "women's wrestling", but I didn't see a tub of Jell-O anywhere!

You must not play volleyball or you wouldn't have said that. Sand 2's is the most difficult, demanding, and athletic form of volleyball. It's like jumping with bricks tied to your feet. Jumping that high and hitting a ball that hard and passing the ball and setting the ball takes years of training to get to the level that these women are at. Go play a pickup game at your local gym and come back and tell me it's not a sport. You're welcome to come try and pass my spikes anytime, but chances are that the ball will bounce off your face.

If it has competition between two or more teams or individuals, and the outcome is determined by a judge's score, then it is not a sport, it is a pastime. Examples: gymnastics, figure skating, diving, ice dancing, ballroom dancing, synchronized swimming or diving, horse jumping (where the horse jumps obstacles), bodybuilding, etc.

You need to remove horse jumping from that list -- the score is determined on solely objective criteria -- number of obstacles hit, number of refusals and/or falls, and amount of time over the allotted amount. I think you really meant the "dressage", which is subjective scoring.

I also disagree with the main premise that anything with subjective scoring is not a sport -- most team sports would then fall into that categories since referee/umpire decisions are subjective.

It's a sport if it requires athletic ability and conditioning, it's a game if it doesn't. Objective vs. subjective scoring shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not it is a sport.
