New IBD/TIPP Poll: BUSH-44 KERRY-44; KERRY LOSES 6 PT LEAD FROM POST DNC POLL
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ ^

Posted on 08/24/2004 3:46:36 PM PDT by Nascardude

Sorry no link to any article. You can check out the numbers at Realclearpolitics. Anyways, this poll is bad news for John Kerry. And here's why:

IBD/TIPP POLL: 8/2-8/5 (POST DNC POLL)

KERRY: 49 BUSH: 43

CURRENT IBD/TIPP POLL: 8/17/823

KERRY: 44 BUSH: 44

Result- Kerry loses his 6 point lead that he got from the Democratic Convention.

In a 3 way race:

POST CONVENTION POLL:

KERRY: 45 BUSH: 42 NADER: 5

CURRENT POLL:

KERRY: 43 BUSH: 43 NADER: 5

RESULT: Kerry loses lead from the convention.

This is bad news for the Kerry folk as what little bounce Kerry may have gotten, if any, out of the Democratic Convention. And the Republicans have yet to have their convention.

Good news IF we can keep the RINOs off the stage...

Hate to tell you but this show is going to be a major RINO-fest, a great big circus tent. I bet even the ushers and concessioners are screened for potentially conservative views.

Kerry's going to lose another 6-8% in the next two weeks. Bush will have a 6-8% bounce from the convention.

MSM headline after that 12-16% swing in voters:BUSH WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE OF KERRY!

Look at it this way. President Bush is tied with a psycho-liar opponent. And you call this good news? Let's just say my enthusiasm is somewhat tempered by sobriety.

The Swifties are having an effect..

Actually one can make a case that Kerry is having an effect. Since the Swifties hit the national media, the meida has been putting lots of footage of Kerry on the Screens. Not just video of Kerry but video with audio of kerry speaking about Bush and Swifties.

The more Kerry is on TV and talking.. the worse his poll numbers become.

Not sure of that. If they are having an effect, I would expect a much bigger bounce for Bush.

I expect that the Dem's spin is getting out more than the Swifties' meessage.

You all need to work harder.

The real problem is the 10-12% undecided voters.

Not sure of that. If they are having an effect, I would expect a much bigger bounce for Bush.

The effect of the ads is seen in Kerry's decline among Vets and some "undecideds"

This decline opens an opportunity for a Bush "bounce"--- after the convention.

Patience. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Don't ya know..being "undecided" has become a badge of honor. I doubt the number is as high as reported. After all, a high "undecided" number keeps Kerry's campaign alive.

[pulls out wrinkled paper from pocket and reads]

Folks, worrying or celebrating are both wrong. Please take action. Please call the campaign and volunteer to register voters in GOP neighborhoods. That is the only activism that matters at this point. We have to expand the size of the voting universe and the expansion must be GOP.

[replaces paper in pocket and moves to next poll thread]

You'd think that the "Undecideds" would make perfect Kerry voters. They would vote for him, before they voted against him.

BTW, Drudge is reporting that Kerry called one of the Swift Boat Vets and basically whined at him. Go to Drudge for the text of the call. And the Lurch meltdown continues...
