War between Russia and Georgia 'very close'

25.08.2004

War between Russia and Georgia is close, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili warned in a newspaper interview published in Paris.

"We are very close to a war [with Russia], the population must be prepared," he told the Liberation daily.

Georgia pulled troops back from the separatist pro-Moscow region of South Ossetia last week after an unprecedented show of force that infuriated Russia and worried Washington.

South Ossetia falls within Georgian borders but is inhabited mainly by ethnic Ossetians. The province has demanded independence or rule from Moscow.

My guess is Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili is doing his Master George Soros' bidding.

I was just about ready to suggest this, you know Soro's dirty hands are in this somewhere.

This is of course Bush's fault.

You mean the Russians don't like peaches, Waffle House, Atlanta commuters, and those "gentleman's" clubs just north of the Florida border?

...

...

...

Oh...they meant the other Georgia! ;)

No, they finally had it with Jimmy Carter. He just won't shut up and go away!

i don't know much about the dispute with georgia,

but now that the cold war is over and russia and america share the same interests and political system, it's time for the two great powers to start working closely together.

i can't see any serious differences between the two, i don't know why they have to let extraneous issues complicate their relationship.
