I can understand what you mean I work in an engineering company and bad language is rife mainly the men do curb it in front of the women but sometimes it is just part of their vocabulary and they don't even know they are doing it. Unfortunately it is also very easy to pick up on it yourself and you realise your own standards can easily drop I know this is sometimes the case with me if I get angry or upset at work.

That's exactly my point -- if someone somewhere doesn't stop repeating all the profanity and sexually-suggestive and swear words, the hearers imbibe it. I know this from experience, as you find it happening at work. So when I'm reading this great man's autobio, I'm having to fight against the "Army talk" on every page. It detracts amazingly from the nuggets of truth and wisdom.
