I love when GWB does stuff like this. He lets something fester and then finally caves, thus getting ALL the bad press from the left on the front end, and then gets scorned on the back end by the right as an appeaser. Sure looks weak.
Maybe the goal is to wipe the slate clean for the next victory. ;-)

If these ads are "starting to work against the President", why are his number up and Kerry's down? This is a wake up call for America.

I don't get what you mean :-/

Well, the idea being that President Bush wants to win fair and square, and really doesn't need this particular character issue in order to win; a gentleman should be able to win against a scoundrel without having to point out what a scoundrel his opponent is. While refusing to engage in these attack politics and the coarsening of public discourse, the President is at the same time forcing Democrats themselves and everyone live up to higher ideals.
After all, his first concern is always for the integrity of America and her people, and only lastly for himself.

Another misleading headline from the MSM. Bush said ALL 527 ads, and refused to specifically condemn the Swift Boat ads.
President Bush seems to be squarely positioned in the anti-First Amendment bracket. Just more strategery, I suppose.

Apparently they were hoping the Supreme Court would throw out CFR. Shows you should never approve something hoping the Supremes will correct it for you.By the same token, the President, by indicating that he will sign any bill found on his desk, is telling the Republican Congress to never approve something hoping he will correct it for them.

Are there any actual combat veterans in this group?
To: George W. Bush
Don't make idolatry out of combat service. The Germans did!
That will let you to "Seig Heil!"! Or The deadly, yet laffable, Kaiser Willy -- at the least.

Square your understanding with the poster's, if you could. What is inferred Mr. Bush said is a dangerous thing to have had said, a thing ruinuous to Liberty.
I hold with you -- but am troubled and need more explanation. Can you give it?

I don't get what the Germans have to do with this. And you didn't answer my question. I'm wondering if the guy on the right saw combat. Or served in-country.

Lying to yourself brings on dementia. Why are you playing in such waters? Tell the truth.

I think you're the one who's demented. Or drunk. I asked a question to which there is a factual answer. You make accusations and off-the-wall remarks.
Don't post to me again.
To: George W. Bush
You didn't really ask a question. That is obvious. We all know the difference between a rheotorical question -- a statement that pretends to be a question -- and a real question. Your's was rheotoric. A statement. Not a question.

If so - Bush is a fool. Actually Bush has handled this brilliantly.

I believe your headline is misleading (although I'm certain you had no intention to do so) in that Bush did not single out the Swift Vets for Truth but called on cessation of all 527's (which would include such organizations as moveon.org and other Soros funded groups) TV ads. In the spirit of honest and ethical journalism, I would expect a correction. Unless, of course, you actually meant to mislead....which, considering journalistic integrity, would be unthinkable.

W gets to take the moral high ground. That is a great position in which to be!
To: Sabertooth
President Bush seems to be squarely positioned in the anti-First Amendment bracket. I'm personally against campaign finance reform - however, I can also state the facts to counter the spin that the MSM is attempting to place on Bush's statements.

Nothing new here.....just what he said previously about the ads (ADS.....he STILL is not condemning this ad specifically).
