Washington Times ^ | August 23 2004 | UPI

Washington, DC, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Swift Boat Veterans for Truth will not pull television ads attacking John Kerry's service despite President Bush's wishes, sources said Monday.

Sources close to the Swift Boat Veterans said the issue of Kerry's military service is too important to drop.

"It is not a Republican or Democratic issue. If John Kerry was a Republican, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth would still run this ad."

Kerry's World: Father Knows Best***.........As early as prep school, John Kerry showed signs that he shared his father's suspicions about America's cold war foreign policy. In a debate at St. Paul's in the late '50s, he argued that the United States should establish relations with Red China. During his junior year at Yale, he won a speech prize for an oration warning, "It is the specter of Western Imperialism that causes more fear among Africans and Asians than communism, and thus it is self-defeating." And, when he was tapped to deliver a graduation speech in 1966, he used the occasion to condemn U.S. involvement in Vietnam, intoning, "What was an excess of isolationism has become an excess of interventionism."

........John Kerry, of course, did exactly this, first in Vietnam Veterans Against the War and eventually in the U.S. Senate. From the moment he arrived in Washington, Kerry promised that "issues of war and peace" would remain his passion. And, from the start, this meant that he would criticize Ronald Reagan's war against communism, especially when it was fought through proxies in the jungles of Central America. In 1985, he traveled to Nicaragua to meet with the Sandanista government, telling The Washington Post, "I see an enormous haughtiness in the United States trying to tell [the Sandinistas] what to do." Soon after his return, he pressured Congress into investigating the administration's illegal funding of the Contra rebels, opening a trail that culminated in the exposure of the arms-for-hostages deal with Iran. And, a few years later, in the late '80s, he repeated this success, launching an investigation that revealed that another of the administration's favorite anti-communists, the Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, had been deeply enmeshed in drug-trafficking. Kerry was also skeptical enough of U.S. power that he voted against authorizing a popular intervention -- the Gulf war -- and opposed a 1995 resolution that would have allowed the arming of Bosnians. ........***

And watch the Soros' groups try to flood the airwaves. All of this will only backfire on Kerry. He's screwed unless he releases ALL of his records. And we know he won't.

I think GWB is being misrepresented. All means ALL, not just the ads critical of Kerry--i.e., the Swiftboat ads.

Jeff Jacoby on Communist Vietnam: Vietnam...Today***..........But that claim has been proven false by the experience of the last three years, Smith argues. Vietnam's treatment of dissidents and religious minorities has gotten worse, not better, since diplomatic and trade relations with the United States were normalized in 2001. The Vietnam Human Rights Act "would be law right now if it hadn't been for Kerry," Smith says, "and some of those dissidents would be out of prison." By blocking the sanctions bill three years ago, Kerry ensured only that Hanoi's repression would continue unabated.

Will he block it again this year? The Kerry campaign hadn't replied to an inquiry as of late Friday, and Smith claims no inside knowledge. "But I know this much," he said the other day. "The best and brightest and bravest people in Vietnam are in prison, persecuted by the government for their opinions or their faith. And you don't do people who are suffering immeasurable cruelty any kindness by aiding a dictatorship."***

I am loving this and glad the swifties are standing firm. That is having the conviction and honor to do the right thing. So important to le the world know they would still do this if Kerry were Republican (not that that is possible).

VietNam vets have now have the opportunity and have taken taken on one of our impostors, big time. I have sent them my second check to support their cause. I encourage other pissed off vets to do the same. This is as good a lock 'n load scenario as I've seen since 1971.

If I shine my flashlight on a burglar or rapist in the act...am I attacking him?...
or am I 'illuminating his crimes'.....

The SBVT are shining a light on the crimes and character of J Kerry....only other criminals
would call that an attack

imo

I honestly think that Kerry thought he could ride the good will towards the military after 9/11.

He knows that most, if not all, Vietnam vets are out of the service, by virtue of age.

Think of the sheer numbers of people that were born after 1969 and don't even know the history of our involvement in Vietnam. Therefore, he thought his timing would be such that he could use his "service" to his advantage.

Kerry, once again, misread what he did to the Vietnam veterans with his 1971 Congressional Testimony and his anti-wr activities.

It is amazing that Kerry still to this day has no idea what he did to Vietnam Vets, their familiesand this country with his anti-war protests and his activities with VVAW.

They better NOT follow the Bush lead of laying down and baring the throat!

Trying to compromise with the leftist radicals results in just what happened to the last Pres Bush.

He better learn now and fast! He may be able to overcome his signing the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold law.

Good.
Great, actually.
These guys are doing a terrific public service for their fellow Vietnam veterans (including me) and the American people.
They will not back down.
