Was McElvey elected as a Democrat?

I don't think the folks from Youngstown like the way their own national party treated Jim Traficant. No matter what he did, he was and still is loved by his hometown.

Youngstown is always losing jobs. Regardless of which party is in the whitehouse.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The mayor of this Democratic stronghold known for its steel industry job losses is endorsing President Bush for his Republican re-election campaign, Bush's campaign said Monday. The Democrats just keep rolling in for Bush this election. Good.
They see the real Johnny Kerry. They aren't fooled either.
BTW, FOX news...Something about the Weathermen will attack during the RNC. Who are these guys?

Wow, there are a few right-thinking Democrats out there. Zell Miller, Koch, St. Paul MN mayor, and now this guy.

Bush endorsed by the Democrat mayor of Youngstown, Ohio? That's seriesly hugh! With Bush continuing to make inroads in blue-collar Democrat areas, the RATs are running out of areas they can carry by large enough numbers to win states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and West Virginia.

Ha, take that Springsteen...He wrote a song entitled "Youngstown" about how evil free-trade destroyed the steel industry, on his god-awful "Ghost of Tom Joad" solo album a few years back...

I have a great many relatives in Youngstown, and I've visited there dozens of times since the early 70's. I've watched it go from a bustling mill town to a depressed rust belt town, to having health care be its number one industry. They do have an independent streak, as their support for Traficant shows, and they are both pro-labor *and* very conservative. Youngstown is no hotbed of eastern liberalism.
Besides, Hugh Hewitt is from Warren, just outside Youngstown. He must be having an effect on his home town.

McKelvey has been sounding pretty Republican for some time now. Might be nice to see him run against Tim Ryan, but I don't know to which district he belongs.

Isn't Kerry the sports moron who didn't know a wolverine from a Buckeye? I'm sure the mayor is coming out in support of Bush since the head coach of OSU (Jim Trussell)was the head coach of Youngstown State and led YSU to several national titles. It should dawn on the residents of eastern Ohio that Kerry is just too stupid to lead our country!!!
