Fahrenheit 9/11 -- As Seen From Iraqi Battlefield:Treason Defined

Commentary on the News

Jack Kinsella - Omega Letter Editor

The National Center for Public Policy Research has posted online an e-mail received from a soldier, Spc. Joe Roche of the 1st Armored Division, who says Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11 is "making the rounds" among soldiers at U.S. military bases overseas and is "shocking and crushing soldiers, making them feel ashamed" of their service in Iraq.

Reading the letter brought tears to my eyes. Some excerpts:

"Michael Moore's film, Fahrenheit 9/11, is making the rounds here at U.S. bases in Kuwait. Some soldiers have received it already and are passing it around. The impact is devastating. Here we are, soldiers of the 1st Armored Division, just days from finally returning home after over a year serving in Iraq, and Moore's film is shocking and crushing soldiers, making them feel ashamed.

Moore has abused the First Amendment and is hurting us worse than the enemy has. There are the young and impressionable soldiers, like those who joined the Army right out of high school. They aren't familiar w/ the college-type political debate environment, and they haven't been schooled in the full range of issues involved. They are vulnerable to being hurt by a vicious film like Moore's."

"Specialist Janecek, who is feeling depressed because a close family member is nearing the end of her life, just saw the film today. I saw him in the DFAC. He is devastated. 'I feel sh***y, ashamed, like this was all a lie.'

Not only is he looking at going straight to a funeral when he returns home, but now whatever pride he felt for serving here has been crushed by Moore's film. Specialist Everett earlier after seeing the film: 'You'll be mad at s**t for ever having come here.' And there are others.

Mostly the comments are absolute shock at the close connections Moore makes between the Bush family and the Bin Laden family in Saudi Arabia. 'Bush looks really really REALLY corrupt in this film. ‘I just don't know what to think anymore,' is a common comment to hear. Some of these soldiers are darn right ashamed tonight to be American soldiers, to have been apart of this whole mission in Iraq, and are angry over all that Moore has presented in his film."

"Right now, just days away from what should be a proud and happy return from 15 months of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom, your U.S. soldiers are coming back ashamed and hurt because of Moore's work."

"I sometimes want to be mad at my fellow soldiers for being susceptible to Moore's distortions, but I can't really blame them. These are good Americans, who have volunteered to serve our country. Nothing says they all have to be experts in Middle Eastern issues and history and politics to serve. That would be silly. ...But this is, of course, the vulnerability that Moore has exploited."

"I wonder how damaging and shocking a Moore project would have been in the 1940s making such a video of Franklin Roosevelt."

During the Second World War, troop morale overseas was deemed to be a matter of national security. Defeatism was not only discouraged, it was censored. The 1st Amendment survived. So did the United States of America.

Combat action reports were heavily censored to prevent useful intelligence from falling into enemy hands. Even personal mail from GI’s in the field had to pass the unit censors before being mailed out. American families back home grew used to receiving letters from their husbands and sons with whole lines blacked out by the censors. The 1st Amendment survived. So did the United States of America.

Back home, Hollywood produced propaganda movies, with the propaganda being aimed at raising American morale.

Meanwhile, the enemy broadcast radio messages to Allied troops, using radio announcers like Lord Haw-Haw and Tokyo Rose to try and break US morale. After the war, Lord Haw-Haw (William Joyce) was tried by the British for treason. He was executed on January 3, 1946.

Tokyo Rose (Iva Ikuko Toguri) was tried after the war for treason. She was stripped of her American citizenship, sentenced to ten years in prison, and fined $10,000.

With the Vietnam War, treason became fashionable. What led Lord Haw-Haw to the gallows and put Tokyo Rose in prison put John Kerry in the Senate, for example.

‘Treason’ as an indictable crime, has a specific legal definition. But Webster’s defines the meaning of ‘treason’ as follows:

“The offense of attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance, or of betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power; disloyalty; treachery.”

John Kerry’s antiwar activities are a textbook example of a person betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power. Screaming, “1st Amendment privilege,” Kerry handed the North Vietnamese all the propaganda they needed to break US morale and ultimately hand Hanoi victory. That is a matter of historical record.

Michael Moore’s antiwar ‘documentaries’ like Fahrenheit 9/11 are further examples of leftist treason, according to Webster’s definition. Both Kerry and Moore are guilty of betraying the state into the hands of a foreign power by their conduct. In Kerry’s case, the betrayal was complete and the victory went to Hanoi.

In Moore’s case, the betrayal is ongoing. Screaming, “1st Amendment privilege,” Moore’s wild, unproven allegations about the war in Iraq and why we are there is sapping the will of America to stay the course, and, heartbreakingly, the will of the men in harm’s way.

“Some of these soldiers are darn right ashamed tonight to be American soldiers, to have been apart of this whole mission in Iraq,” writes Spc Roche, still in combat in Iraq.

In Spc Roche’s letter, one can hear echoes of John Kerry’s 1971 question, addressed to the Senate hearing before whom he was testifying; “Who wants to be the last man to die for a lost cause in Vietnam?”

Stop, for a second, and allow the spin to wind down. Remember where this all began. Saddam Hussein was a vicious dictator who was being propped up by corruption and black marketeering, conducted at the highest levels of UN, France, Germany and Russia.

Prior to 9/11, regime change in Iraq was already a matter of US national policy. After 9/11, removing Saddam (or leaving him in power) could easily have become a matter of national survival. (What was Saddam going to do with that yellowcake uranium from Niger, anyway?)

And every day Saddam was in power, thousands of innocents in Iraq were being butchered. Every day invasion was delayed, thousands more died. Those Iraqis were real people, not just numbers.

Those were the reasons our troops went to Iraq, and they were proud to do it. Those I've met who returned from Iraq were filled with a sense of accomplishment and the rightness of their mission.

Michael Moore betrayed them, stole their pride, and instilled in them a sense of futility that may well get some of those who are still in combat killed. Moore knows that -- he's been told by experts.

Treason is evidently no barrier to high office, as John Kerry’s candidacy makes clear. And treason is no barrier to wealth, fame and high honors, as Michael Moore’s wildly successful enemy propaganda films testify to so eloquently.

To them, America is the enemy, but to their twisted way of thinking, that makes them ‘patriots’ – so say the likes of Michael Moore, John Kerry, Alec Baldwin, Teddy Kennedy, etc., etc.

At the risk of repeating myself, Paul’s description of society in the last days bears more than a passing resemblance to our own crumbling social edifice. Consider, for a moment, the platform, tone and spirit of those who represent the American Left.

Picture such faces in your minds eye as John Kerry’s, or Michael Moore, or Alec Baldwin, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Tom Daschle. . . ok, got it?

Now look at what they stand for. Abortion rights. Gay rights. Secular humanism. The suppression of Christianity. Same sex marriages. Children’s rights (and the corollary erosion of parental rights) Even UN rights over US sovereign matters like national defense.

Now, look at how they advance their causes. By creating division – the ‘two Americas’ the ‘rich against the poor’ (class warfare is a technique perfected by the Bolsheviks to overthrow the Czar. It is classical Marxism).

By fomenting civil unrest. By advocating civil disobedience. Recall all the illegal gay ‘marriages’ performed by elected officials in defiance of the law, for example. (Also classical Marxism)

Let’s return to Paul’s comments, one more time. Bear with me.

First, the historical context of which Paul is framing his description:

"This know also, that in THE LAST DAYS, perilous times shall come." Having established the historical context as being in the 'last days' Paul describes the social conditions that constitute 'perilous times' for the Church in those last days.

"For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy." (2nd Timothy 3:2)

Allow me to paraphrase Paul to illustrate my point (with apologies to the Author). "For men shall supporters of secular humanism, wanting power at all costs, boasters (Was Kerry in Cambodia in 1968?) supporters of the ACLU, supporters of restricting parental rights, unthankful and unholy."

“Without natural affection (gay marriage) trucebreakers (Kerry’s promise to bug out of Iraq) false accusers (Bush lied, Bush was AWOL, SWIFT Boat veterans are all partisan liars, etc) incontinent (Teddy Kennedy) fierce (Terry McAullife: Bush was AWOL) despisers of those that are good (GOP taken over by the “religious right”)”

“Traitors (see assessment) heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness (Kerry the Catholic believes life begins at conception but supports abortion ‘rights’), but denying the power thereof :(One nation, under God?) . . . to which, Paul warns the Church, “from such turn away.”

This is not intended as an exhortation for one political party or a condemnation of the other. They stand either condemned or justified on the weight of their own positions.

The point of this column is actually made by 1 Timothy 1:1.

Before presenting a literal description of the worldview of the America liberal left, Paul opens by saying;

“This know also, that IN THE LAST DAYS, perilous times shall come.”

Questions, anyone?

Why is the military allowing this movie? It should be viewed as propaganda by the enemy designed to discourage America and empower the enemy.

So who are all the soldiers who sent letters to Moore supporting his new book, scheduled for release in a month?

With all the gifts Freepers have, and Conservatives in general, I'm sort of surprised no one has put together an Internet movie called "An answer to Fahrenheit 911, for Servicepeople and Patriots".

Fear and Hate 911 is so full of distortions and downright lies, and we all know the power of the internet. If a quality piece was made, I am sure it would be all over the internet, and would bring some peace to these GI's who have been subjected to this traitorous propaganda.

"'Treason’ as an indictable crime, has a specific legal definition."

That being the case, why hasn't Moore or Kerry been indicted for treason? If it's the 'slam dunk' so many think it is - it should have already happenned. How can someone be guilty of a crime and never brought before a court?

When you think about it - doesn't it seem Vietnam repeat all over - propaganda only though? These are the methods used by Kerry to kill the spirits of the soldiers than with his lies, and dealing with the communists behind everyone's back? Surely - I do not understand why the Dept of Defense allowed it, byt then again - if they didn't - they would been accysed of censorship. They damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

This isn't a movie, but rather a four page paper, giving 59 deceits within the film. (Three were added after the title was written, "56 deceits of ...") http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-Deceits-in-Fahrenheit-911.htm Send this along to any soldiers. Moore is a huckster of the highest degree, and the troubled soldiers should know this.

To my brothers and sisters (in arms) deployed and everywhere else... pass the word. This movie shows nothing more than a pathetic loser's viewpoint who wants nothing more than a democrat in office so he can find some political propoganda role of his own that his fat lazy a$$ can fill. Our service in the sandboxes and everywhere else has been honorable and just. Don't let this overweight waste of sperm's movie degrade your spirits. Just remember that without us and the freedom we protect and bring to other countries, he'd never have been able to make this movie in the first place. --Jammz, TSgt, USAF

It'd be real neighborly of some of you guys to pay a few midnight back-alley visits to the likes of Moore and Ted Rall when you get back. Be sure and take a nice, warm blanket with you.

To all of our troops wherever they may be:

Thank you for our freedom. Don't believe a traitor's words for they do not speak for the rest of us that appreciate you service and mourn your sacrifice. May God bless you and keep you.

Signed: A grateful American public.

Well said, Jammz.

Thank you and all who now serve and have served in the past. Michael Moore does NOT speak for the vast majority of Americans. And he does not do documentaries, he weaves lies and half-truths together into pure unadulterated propaganda hit pieces designed to harm America and Americans.

Study history. Moore is trying to do what John Kerry and his communist comrades did in 1971 - fool you and the American public.

Are there still websites out there devoted to sending e-mail and cards to our troops overseas? We need to let them know they should not believe or trust anything Michael Moore says. Moore, in fact, has publicly rooted against the US military while the Iraq War is being fought.

If anything, our boys overseas should track down Moore when they get home, and remind him how lucky he is to be able to attack his own country, both on home and foreign soil, with near impunity.

Of course, I would also be in favor of a couple soldiers following him into a public restroom and introducing his head to a urinal, but perhaps that's just me.

Beautifully written, and poignant, piece. It is heartbreaking to hear how our troops are being demoralized by the treasonous actions of a self-promoting, slandering bigot like Moore. I am going to pray even harder for justice, and God's will only, to be done. This just breaks my heart, and hardens my resolve to expose the truth to the misled and misguided.

It is hight time to ban F-911 from ALL movie theatres. It is subverting troop morale, and frankly misrepresents the President's friendship with the Saudis.
