Democrat's Team Says Veteran's Role in Drive to Discredit Kerry Shows a Link

CRAWFORD, Tex., Aug. 21 -- The Bush campaign said late Saturday that it dismissed an adviser on veterans issues after learning that he is part of an independent group that has been running anti-Kerry ads.

The Bush campaign said Kenneth Cordier, who appears in a new advertisement to be aired by the anti-Kerry group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, will no longer serve in his voluntary position on Bush's veterans steering committee. A Bush spokesman said Cordier had not previously informed the campaign that he had been involved with the group, but the Kerry campaign said the matter provides evidence supporting its complaint to the Federal Election Commission alleging illegal cooperation between the campaign and the independent group.

"Col. Cordier did not inform the campaign of his involvement in the advertisement being run by a 527 organization," Bush campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt wrote in a statement, referring to the technical name for independent groups such as the Swift boat organization. Schmidt said Cordier "will no longer participate as a volunteer for Bush-Cheney '04."

Cordier's connection to the Bush campaign was made public yesterday by the Kerry campaign, which found that Cordier had been named on the Bush Web site earlier this month as a member of the veterans committee but that his name had subsequently been removed. A Bush aide said Cordier, who spent six years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and was a Bush supporter in 2000, called the campaign to disclose his involvement on Friday and was told he could no longer serve as an adviser to the campaign.

The ads by the Swift boat group, named for the type of boat Kerry commanded during the Vietnam War, has been causing a furious...

Does Dana Milbank (a Skull and Bones guy) really want to take on a man who spent over six years in a POW camp in North Vietnam, being tortured because of bullshit lies that John F'n Kerry was spewing in front of a Senate committee?

I don't think that would be a good career move.

I wonder where Milbank has been during all of this. He is usually the Compost's go to guy if they want some articles bashing President Bush.

I am seriously beginning to wonder if this may not backfire on us. I am a Vietnam vet and have read Unfit for Command. It is an excellent book, and presents an argument that I feel would hold up in court....

But, in the larger context of this Presidential campaign...with the mainstream press in Kerry's corner... is this going to kill us in the end?

There are a lot of you out there more expert -- who have forgotten more about political campaigns than I will ever know -- am I worrying about nothing?

This ad campaign is brilliant. It has the 'Rats running around in circles, and their counteroffensive is very weak.

Kudos to Cordier, and all the swiftboat vets involved in this campaign.

The swiftboat vets are going to sink Kerry's boat, and all the stinking liars like Michael Moore and Whoopi Goldberg who climbed aboard it, hoping to rise in power with him by trashing our wonderful President.

Kerry will not be able to defend his post Vietnam War activities. The Winter Soldier Project was funded by, and supported by, enemies of the United States. Jane Fonda was one of those supporters.

John Kerry kept silent about the Swift Boat Vets for Truth until he got wind of the second Ad that is coming out the week. That's because John Kerry knows this issue will sink him if he can't find a way to muzzle them.

I applaud John O'Neil and the other Swift Boat Vets for striking back at John Kerry for slandering them.

Wish they hadn't done that. It makes it appear that there is something sinister about the Swift Boater's, when there is not.

If it kills us in the end then at least we went down fighting. After moveon.org, Michael Moore, and all the other crap we've had thrown at us for the past six months it feels damn good to be giving them back some of their own medicine. The big difference, though, is their attacks are based on lies and our attacks are based on truth. In the end, I have faith that truth will overcome the lies.

They had no choice, if they didn't it would be worse.

Kenneth Cordier was a POW, not a Swift Boat Vet and I would imagine that John McCain is the only former POW who is willing to forgive John Kerry for what he did after his 132 days in Vietnam

Better to stay on with the SwiftBoats group and leave the Bush campaign, rather than vice-versa. These guys are kicking butt!

O'Neil's book should arrive next week. And I made a donation to this very effective group on their website SwiftVets.com.

I say keep hitting them where it hurts. So far the Bush people have been playing this right, but they need to get the message out that this is Kerry's fight with the veterans and now veteran POWs.

My car looks like a billboard on wheels. I have made and laminated about a dozen anti Kerry posters, never naming Bush on them. I don't even have a Bush Cheney sticker on my car. The posters cover the rear window of my car. I am going to get the message out in what little capacity I could.

These are Vietnam Vets speaking out against a guy who sold them out, not only with his testimony to the Senate in 1971, but also his trip to Paris to negotiate with the enemy.

The main stream media will try to convince people that this a political attack orchestrated by the Bush Campaign, but when all the interviews are done and everyone speaks, the whole country will see that it's personal to the Swift Boat Vets for Truth, nothing political at all

"interviews are done and everyone speaks,"

Don't get me wrong, BUT how the heck are they going to get the message out when the WHOLE freakin mediaWHORES and their establishments have blackout the swift guy's message? I know, we have the net, the radio talk shows, and FOX(some days that is) when the majority of Americans get their ENTIRE news from the nightly news and the liberal RAT RAGS? Just curious, that's all!
