Edvard Munch's famous painting 'The Scream' and several other works by the Norwegian artist have been stolen by armed robbers.
The Munch Museum in Oslo, home to many canvases by the early modernist, comfirmed that the theft had taken place but refused to make any other comment.

Some collectors like to own famous paintings and artifacts just so no one else can have it. They keep it secretly locked up so only they know that it's there.
What is the point? You can't show it off. Why bother?

I would take a look at Howard Dean's house first.
Art lovers and collectors do not own artworks for self-aggrandisement. Art is a poke in the mind's eye, a proof to exist, a taste of immortality.
And my first thought was Howard Dean.
Maybe Kerry needed it for his new logo.

Some paintings are also held for ransom.
Either way, the thieves get money.
Ugly art debases culture.
People who create and admire ugly art are nihilists.

I recall this picture was stolen before, about 10 years ago, and held for ransom (which was never paid). I think it was found a few months later in a hotel room.
You'd think they'd be a bit more careful with it now wouldn't you.
