Is it confirmed that Kerry's boat was rocked by an explosion? I thought he panicked and fled when the other boat hit a mine? And was there firing from the shore?

I dont know what happened but from the chart in Post 5 it looks like the other boats stopped to help the boat that hit the mine while Kerry hit the throttle to head down the river, tossing Rasman off the boat. Then he returned for Rasman and left the other boats on their own.

I can only surmise that the Wash. Post drew the chart , but it sure looks like Kerry ran to me.

There's ONE little problem, It has been stated on here many times the Black guy WAS NOT on the boat that day.

He had been replaced because he was in the Hospital with head wounds.

There is another picture of the crew wearing their medal's and the Black Guy is not there.

How did kerry get shrapnel while in the pilot house?
Rassmann deserves to have fallen in if he was eating a cookie there!
Also it is claimed Rassman fell overboard when the boat made a hard starboard (right) turn. If Kerry turned right he would have run up against the riverbank again. And Rassman should not have fallen off.
Kerry was OITC of the 5 boats yet he was the only one to run down river. Dereliction of duty.
There is no gun position on the front of a PCF.

You'll notice:

• Alston on the 'gun tub' - but wasn't it Frederick Short?
• Kerry's report reflected in the Award Recommendation Summary of Action told of the 94 immediately going to the aid of the 3 boat - here, the 94 is sailing around out on the right, and heads back in the way it came.
• Rassman is flailing around in the water, and ducking under twice, five times, whatever, he said partly to avoid the propellers of the other boats, along with supposed 'incoming' - here he's off to the right on the other side of the net, the only boat he could possibly be trying to avoid was Kerry's.
• Chenoweth's 23 boat went to the aid of those in the water. Droz in 43 went to help shore up/stabilize the 3 where Thurlow was trying to get to them, and succeeded (Bronze Star - with all the additional Kerryisms).
