The Kerry campaign just keeps coming with attack after attack on the Swifties. He calls them Republican activist and Bush cronies, but what about MoveOn.org? They attack Bush all the time with nary a whimper from the President. Perhaps he is thicker skinned? In any case lets look at these two 527s, info courtesy of opensecrets.org:
OpenSecrets.org's description:
Begun in 1998 to protest the impeachment of President Clinton, the group has become a powerful political force since then. Its political action committee, the MoveOn PAC, spends millions of dollars to support the election of Democratic candidates. The MoveOn.org Voter Fund is raising soft money, which may be contributed in unlimited amounts, for TV ads in key battleground states that are critical of President Bush.
Oh, but wait. Soros also decided to donate to John Kerry! According to the OpenSecrets.org donor look-up he donated $2000 to the Kerry Campaign. Remember, however, that Soros is a Liberal and is not allowed scrutiny in his donations. Only Conservatives or people who support Bush are culpable.
Looking at the Swifties now:
OpenSecrets.org's description:
SBVT represents Vietnam Swift boat veterans who are critical of Democrat John Kerry's decision to make his military service a major part of his campaign for president. The group questions Kerry's record in Vietnam and denounces his anti-war activities following his military service. The group's donors include some major Republican contributors.
Yeah, they are the big bullies here. The issue is that Kerry can only attack the Swifties by saying they are associated with Bush, and in the end it won't work. Bush's connection to the Swift Boat Vets is the same as Kerry's to the MoveOn.org group. Kerry cannot prove a connection, and in the end it won't matter. His only defense is to attack the issues raised, and he will do no so thing.

8 out of 10 also donated to Kerry, the max of $2000. The rest they are pouring into 527's, for some odd reason...
Yeah, those 527 have NOTHING to do with helping Kerry.
Yeah, those 527 have NOTHING to do with helping Kerry.
That's right, and the Kerry campaign hasn't denounced their attack ads.
Thanks so much for posting this, and for the ping! I was going to break down and do a vanity asking for the wonderful FReepers to do an analysis of this very topic, and here you had already done it!
Bravo!
I dunno for sure...Americans for something or other, or some other ridiculously false title.
I do know that Ickes is bragging that he has brought in more than 51 million, and I do know that kerry will not see much, if any of it.
This baby is being set up for hellary.
And I am sure he hopes to pray on the emotions of radical democrats for a few years to come and build this baby up into the stratosphere of millions upon hundreds of millions before that fat arsed, arrogant, stupid (health care plan comes to mind), immoral, imperious, willing to hit people in her moving vehicle and MOVEON (.org-lol) without so much as getting out to apologize and care for said individual, willing to live with a rapist and support him in order to keep her own viable political ambitions alive and well (hmmm.....) decides to attempt to infiltrate and once again stench up our White House.
Dear MoveOn member,
In April, more than half a million MoveOn members across the country took to the streets -- or at least to their driveways -- to hold fundraising bake sales as part of MoveOn PAC's "Bake Back the White House". It was a tremendous success: together we raised close to $750,000 in small, cookie-sized chunks.
Today, we're continuing that tradition with the Great MoveOn PAC Virtual Yard Sale. For the next 2 weeks, we're asking MoveOn members from coast to coast to clean out their basements and garages, and put their extra stuff up for sale to help take our country back. Using our eBay-based online catalog, you can sell everything from beanie babies to toaster ovens to old movie posters to benefit an exciting new program.
To join the Virtual Yard Sale, all you need to do is post your item on eBay and "link" it to our catalog. Then, when the eBay auction is over, you can contribute the proceeds to us. It's that simple, and we'll walk you through the whole process.
Put your items up for sale in the Virtual Yard Sale at:
http://www.moveonpac.org/yardsale/index.html
Proceeds from the Virtual Yard Sale will get us closer to our $5 million goal for Leave No Voter Behind, MoveOn PAC's massive precinct-by-precinct program to get out the vote. This program will hire 500 organizers, cover 100,000 precincts, and turn out 400,000 new progressive votes in crucial swing states. You can help make this groundbreaking program possible -- by auctioning off your old stuff!
To get things started, we've also created our own Celebrity Yard Sale -- including DVDs autographed by Leonardo DiCaprio, the Shawshank Redemption book and screenplay signed by Tim Robbins, handmade jewelry by Margaret Cho, clothing autographed and decorated by Janeane Garofalo, and many other terrific items from the likes of Al Franken, Scarlett Johansson, Al Gore, Roseanne Cash, the Black Eyed Peas, Greg Palast, John Sayles, Alex Gray, R.E.M., Norman Mailer, Steve Buscemi, and Eve Ensler. You can find a link to the Celebrity Yard Sale, as well as links to items that members have listed at:

It's not every day that your spare toaster oven and grandma's old furniture can help strengthen our democracy.
