An an e-mail to TVNewser, MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann has a message for Michelle Malkin: "I'd say to her exactly what a veteran sage reporter once said to me after I made a terrifically bad rookie mistake on a newscast in Los Angeles: 'I'm very proud of you, you have great courage. If I'd just done that on television, I'd go home and open my veins.'" He'll be Hardblogging about it again today...

Something else must be in the wings, and it must be devastating for Kerry.

This is the interesting development. Kerry steps down.

THEN WHAT? The 'news cycle' on this Swift vets complaint really wasn't picked up in earnest in April and May. Little bits came out here and there. But it wasn't until they really organized themselves, got the website, and particularly hit the tilting 'swing' states with so much as a single tv ad, that the 'news cycle' of a few weeks on this, took hold. If it's about to result in effectively the dismissal, yet again historically, of Kerry, I'm not sure I like that. But whoever they put up, likely not Edwards, I'm sure there's enough to vote FOR Bush. And maybe THAT'S why the Bush Campaign is insisting on that approach.

If they send in somebody else, particularly after the convention, I think with the Bush Campaign educating people about ALL they've done in four years, that too might be enough to turn aside any new Dem challanger. I don't think it will be Hil.

If I had Olbermann's ratings I'd go home and open my veins.

I would submit that Kerry's only out is suicide. It's game over. If he has any honor (which he has yet to express any time in his life), that is his only option.

"I don't think Matthews came off better than Malkin, but it sounded as though she hadn't done her homework."

You need to do your homework. Matthews broadsided her, as she wasn't on his program to discuss the SwiftVets controversy, rather to talk about her new book on internment during periods of war. Considering she had no idea at all as to what was about to hit her, I think she did exceedingly well against the onslaught of vitriol from Matthews.

Is it true she said Kerry might have shot himself on purpose to get a purple heart?

Here's the real explanation of the alleged "contradictions" in the Swifties' accounts of John Kerry's actions.

Here's what the NY Times and the other leftist media means by "contradictions":

1. The NY Times earlier today announced to Book Review subscribers by email that "Unfit for Command" would be # 3 on this Sunday's Best-Seller list.

2. But when I clicked the email link and got the actual list, I found that "Unfit for Command" was not even listed in the top 20.

3. Must have been a coincidence that, "Unfit for Command" was omitted from the actual Best-Seller list.

4. Free Republic published the omission from the Best-Seller list of "Unfit for Command" earlier this evening. A few minutes after the Free Republic article was published, there was a "correction" and "Unfit for Command" miraculously appeared as # 3 on the list.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1196069/posts

5. You probably think that this was a "correction"--but, let's see what they call it when the Swifties make a correction:

6. The NY Times distracts from the truth with ludicrous allegations of "contradictions" in the Swifties' accounts.

7. Last time I heard, when you have been told a bunch of lies, and only after many years discover that these were outright fabrications (as when the Swifties recently learned the truth about Kerry's falsification of his after action reports, and other reports on the basis of which he illegitimately obtained his medals) it's properly called "CORRECTION", not "contradiction."

8. But when the New York Times corrects its Best-Seller list, and restores Unfit to # 3 -- isn't it just as much of a CONTRADICTION -- isn't it just what they accuse the Swifties of doing?

9. I'm sure that we'll see the appropriate headline tomorrow on page one, above the fold: "NEW YORK TIMES CONTRADICTS ITSELF ON O'NEILL BOOK".

These leftists have a thing about telling people to go kill themselves. As I recall Tom Lantos expressed a similar sentiment with regard to Craig Livingstone

Yaeh, that what the Clintons said to Vince Foster, right?!?

No, she said that Swifties alleged that it was a "self-inflicted wound" which occured when he shot a grenade which landed short and hit him in the butt. But before she could finish Matthews kept interrupting her.

Malkin should say to him what the people at ESPN say about Olbermann: "He didn't just burn his bridges, he napalmed them" and, when asked why Keith wasn't invited back for Old School week on ESPN, the exec said that Olbermann would do enough damage to ESPN in one day to hurt the network for two years. In short, Olbermann is the last person who should be giving "friendly" advice to anyone.

That's disheartening...Shepherd Smith is a dumbass. How he or O'Reilly have higher ratings than Brit is either due to the time slot or this country is headed for the crapper.

Well, actually I could understand O'Reilly as the liberals prolly tune in for the whole s&m vibe.

This Keith Olbermann fellow has a program? How nice of MSNBC to give him a sports show! It's really good to see them add this talent to their lineup.

And I hear John McEnroe has a show on CNBC. Kind of specialized, isn't it? I mean, a show just about tennis? Risky....

I'll close by saying how nice it is that the FReepers gave NBC a ratings bump they haven't seen since Seinfeld.

</sarcasm>

Yesterday on C-Span's Washington Journal, Michelle told viewers that Olberman called her an idiot. She also told viewers to go to MSNBC.com and read the transcript for themselves. So she wasn't lying, exaggerating, or trying to mislead anyone about Olberman's insult.

But last night Olberman tried to make a big deal out of the fact that he actually said Malkin " made a fool out of herself", as opposed to calling her an "idiot". Not a dime's difference as far as I was concerned, except what he actually said was far more insulting, to my way of thinking. As I listened to him play his mean-spirited and meaningless word game I had to wonder why he even involved himself in Chris's bad behavior, especially since Chris was awol from HARDBALL tonight.

I would submit that Kerry's only out

There appear to be two paths ahead of him. Either outright defeat in the general election, or stepping down for - whoever.

If the latter, then it becomes - who picks? They've already had their convention. Edwards moving up to the number one spot would be no improvement. So?
