There are approximately 30 copies of Unfit For Command at the 86th St Barnes and Noble in Manhattan.
Someone had reported on the Midtown store, so I thought I would let you know about this Barnes and Noble.
Note that they charged me full price, since it must not be on an official best seller list yet.
Were they displayed prominently?
UWS?
I haven't been a candidate for tinfoil for quite a while, but this scares me. If Kerry gets away with this and is elected how long before ways are found to muzzle Limbaugh, Fox and even Free Republic? I never thought I would see a candidate for President try to prevent publication and sale of a book and to have even the liberal media stand by and bless the action with their silence.
how many copies were there? I know it well, since it is in the Citicorp building.
Yup it is the Citicorp Building. I don't know I didn't go in. I was on my way home and saw it in the window. Check it out. But who knows if it will be in there tomorrow with all this crap from the Whining John Kerry.
94 Views, Wow!
I'm going back next week to see if they have responded to the contraversy over it.
Funny you asked that. I live in Cranston, Rhode Island, my wife was heading over to the local Borders so after reading some of the stories here about the difficulty finding Unfit I asked her to see if they had any copies. Surely the hottest book going would be right there when you walk in the door, wouldn't it? As I had guessed the book was NOT prominently displayed, my wife was browsing and by sheer luck came across it. I asked if she had to make her way past the enormous display of Slick Willie's autolieography that was blocking the entrance on my last trip to the store over a month ago. She replied, "How did you know?".
I just went to Amazon.com and it says " Normal delivery 5-7 WEEKS!!!! We will be well into our election campaign by then......where else can we go to get them right away?????
There are 30 at B&N 86th St in NYC
I think that this BORDERS NEEDS FREEPING BIG TIME!!!!!! Anyone have a phone number or email addie????
Went to the Books A Million in Warner Robins, Georgia. This is a very conservative military town, which hosts Robins AFB, and employs about 20,000 people, military and civilian. Went there with my two kids to get the book. Walked in, saw Bubba's book, the Bush bashing books, and the pro Kerry ones ad nauseum. The big wig was on the phone talking to someone on the phone, and I approached the desk, and see a John Kerry book right on the COUNTER by the register....I am starting to not get a good feeling about this. I wait for the guy to get off the phone, and then I say..."Do you have the book 'Unfit For Command?' He gives me this rolling eyes (reminded me of my teenager) look, and says, 'No.' I said, "May I ask why?" He promptly cops an attitude and says, 'We got three books in, they all sold out.' I then said, 'How do I get one?'....he huffily says, 'You have to fill out your name and address and phone number and we will call you when they come in," and he waltzed off. As he passed me, I said to him, 'Ummm, you have tons of Clinton books, and Bush basing books, but you only order THREE of the "Unfit For Command" books? Isn't that special!" He ignored me.
My daughter is 18, and is a registered Republican. (I did it right, eh!?) And today, after she got home from work, she went on the net and has spent three hours on the Swift Boats website, and cannot believe this man has gotten away with as much as he has, and nothing is said. It is incredible how they are trying to prevent the truth from getting out.
If you go to www.borders.com, you are actually sent to the Borders site - teamed with Amazon.com - makes Borders look like manipulative chumps if you ask me.
Nobody says any store must carry and sell any particular item. But I tend to agree with your assessment - the efforts to keep this book away from the public is quite scary. Guess it's ok to engage in totalitarian tactics if it's the (liberal) establishment guy you're defending.
What is wrong with these snotty people that work in books stores? Are the the liberal book police or what? They are just salesmen/women they can get off their high horse! Your daughter has a good head on her shoulders. I'm sure you are real proud of her.
The melting ice cream cone routine is indicated. (I learned about this one from Bruce Williams, a business and personal affairs guru on radio.) You go into the store with two kids holding (and eating) melting ice cream cones. You sit down with the kids and (from here on I'm adapting it to book censorship) start talking about censorship. You say you only want to buy a book. "Isn't that permitted in this country? They sell all kinds of hysteria and pornography here. Why can't I buy a book that talks about history? What is wrong with this place?" I think if you carry this through you might get a copy.
You can certainly create your own variation of a stir that embarrasses them.
When the Swifties are contraversial and MM is mainstream, those describing the situation as such are absolute, total, and certifiable nutcases.
