More illegal immigrants with criminal records caught at the border (11,000)

PHOENIX - A computerized fingerprinting system is credited with apprehending nearly four times more illegal immigrants with criminal or immigration records trying to enter through Arizona.

Since October, the Border Patrol says agents patrolling the Tucson sector have apprehended nearly eleven-thousand people who were wanted by local authorities or had been convicted of crimes or immigration violations.

The majority of people were detected by a digital scanning fingerprint system that lets agents check both criminal and immigration records simply by scanning the fingers on both hands.

The system wasn't available to the entire Tucson sector until this year.

It was installed at the Border Patrol's busiest stations first.

Sensational, extreme exaggeration, far from solving the problem, only serves to convince people that the entire story is fiction, and that NO elements of it are true.

Wrong.

While everyone here agrees that the "every day" thing was an exageration, we don't know that this was the exact transcript of what was said. Further more, if I was finding such things in my yard after 9/11? You bet I'd wanna tell the world about it, I can forgive her if she did indeed use the word "everything"

I am struck though by an overstatement.........by you. The extreme position that you take by bouncing to the opposite side and claiming that no Al Qaeda are therefore attempting to enter the US through our borders. If anything is irresponsible, it is that position. I question the integrity and motives of any poster who puts for such a baseless assertion for apparently no other reason than for you to accept even a shred of her story as true is to too disturbing for your crowd to process.

If she was such a liar, why did she have all these prayer rugs and Korans again?

If she is a total liar as you are strong arming us to accept, what negative consequence of all the people who read this thread do you fear will transpire?

Maybe a mosque will, maybe it won't, but that is a totally different issue than whether or not a hysterical biddy with an obvious agenda is lying when she says she "finds Korans and prayer rugs every day abandoned in her yard" by border jumpers.

Hysterical biddy????  This was a documentary on TV. I believe that Tom Brokaw was the one that did the interview.  She is NO hysterical biddy.  She was there with her border patrol husband.  They SHOWED the prayer rugs and the books of the Koran that were dropped in haste to the TV!

If she IS finding these, the most "sacred objects" a Muslim owns; and in the case of the Koran, something that would be considered blasphemous to toss on the ground and abandon--a death penalty offense among the very extremists these would be.

They were jumping a fence and running with hordes..........so why do you doubt that they would drop them in their haste to keep running?!

I repeat, this story is pure yellow journalist propagandist poppycock that William Randolph Hearst would have been proud to claim.

That's ok.  Just bury your head in the sand and maybe it will all go away.

Have a good day!

You're not partisan? Why?

My partisanship ends when I know something is untrue. I will not employ misdirection, Ad Homonyms and outright lies to get the GOP a victory in an argument. That's because I have Core values. You should try fighting for those for a change.

And then you might be a Buchanan supporter who is without a party because Buchanan is blah blah blah, rant rant rant.

I have never voted for Patty J, and never would. The fact that you go back to this arguement as reflexively as John Kerry does in blaming Bush's secret hand in every problem he has shows everyone on these threads your integrity.

Yes I am a Republican and a strong supporter of President Bush.

No, never would have guessed that! You do George W Bush no favors with your postings here moron.

..."it sucks."

And so does dodging the issue. Yes, the woman may be exaggerating a bit, but that doesn't change the fact that our enemies have been using the Mexiccan border to infiltrate our nation for years now. I read of terrorist training and staging camps being set up in the Sonoran desert five years ago. Remove your Bush blinders, and see what's going on right now along the Southern border. Oh yeah, it's happening along the Northern border as well.

The extreme position that you take by bouncing to the opposite side and claiming that no Al Qaeda are therefore attempting to enter the US through our borders.

And where do I say ANYTHING like that???

I said that exaggeration tends to lessen peoples' acceptance of there being a problem, rather than convince them of the need to solve the very real problem.

You sound rather hysterical.

I don't 'believe' there is a problem. I KNOW there is a problem.

I KNOW objects have been found.

My only point is that the people who are uninformed will be less likely to be convinced by hyperbole, to be polite, than by provable, reasoned, DISPASSIONATE, indisputable facts.

I should demand an apology; you have put words in my mouth even worse than Chris Matthews did to Michelle Malkin. Instead, I'll chalk it up to poor reading skills.

Good day!

You know old posts don't disappear, FYI.

I said that exaggeration tends to lessen peoples' acceptance of there being a problem, rather than convince them of the need to solve the very real problem.

I see you have decided to "rephrase, amplify or extend" your remarks like a good politician. That pleases me.

I KNOW objects have been found.

No there haven't been any Korans dropped, that's too precious, she's just a hysterical old biddie.

I should demand an apology; you have put words in my mouth even worse than Chris Matthews did to Michelle Malkin. Instead, I'll chalk it up to poor reading skills.

Speaking of poor reading skills, what part of my quote of your words did you not remember posting;

Sensational, extreme exaggeration, far from solving the problem, only serves to convince people that the entire story is fiction, and that NO elements of it are true.

Good day!

Run along.

Wide-open borders encourage more attacks on America

And ApplegateRanch thinks this is a big joke!

Naa, just wants you to be quiet about the issue in an election year. I'm still voting for Bush, Dreier on the other hand is going to be a shot over his bow.

"The wife said every morning, she will find prayer rugs and books of the Karan that was dropped in haste in their yard! "

"Anyone would have to be sick to believe that. But watch the Buchanan/Tancredo cult lap it up."

I will say this again. I have a friend from Morocco. She has friends from Morocco that have come here. Lots. They have all come through the Mexican border. It is probably true.

"Then just vote for Kerry and shut up."

Remember Ross Perot? When Bush Senior broke his 'read my lips' promise, how were voters going to get a handle on the bloated government? [And how were they to know [me included] that Cliton would not be properly checked out before winning his nomination?] You want to shut up people for safer borders? You are just sooo.... brilliant. I'm convinced now. You persuaded me to surrender our borders to political correctness. I see the light! When a city gets wasted by terrorists who entered through Mexico, however, you'll know who to blame-- people like you.
