FEC will vote on this...3-3, sorry John Forbes.
"The Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, Campaign for America's Future, and dozens of other groups representing millions of Americans to organize a massive public mobilization. On Wednesday, May 14, join us by calling and emailing your representatives in Congress to let them know that the majority of Americans oppose more irresponsible tax cuts that go overwhelmingly to the wealthiest sliver of Americans."
Message sent by Democratic Party Womens Vote Center in May, 2004.
Isn't that what the McCain-Feingold Campaign Fiance Reform Act is all about? The Congress passed it, President Bush signed it, and the Supreme Court claimed it wasn't unconstitutional. I guess none of these folks have read the First Amendment recently. To be fair, Bush stated that he thought parts were unconstitutional and would be invalidated by the SC. Which they are of course, and which the Court did not invalidate.
I think they already did, when the Supreme Court found the Campaign Finance Reform Act constitutional. It just wasn't reported that way. Instead it was reported as a victory for "the people". ('Course they meant "the People" in the sense used in "People's Republic" or "People's Army, meaning the state)
Supposed "coordination" with the Bush-Cheney campaign, and "inaccuracy". Having a Bush volunteer (head of Veterans outreach) appear in the latest Swift Vet ad probably gave the "coordination" line a boost. Never mind the MoveOn guy that is now a *paid* worker for Kerry-Edwards.
Null and Void when it comes to "Communications designed to affect a federal election", according to the Supreme Court. Neither can the NRA publish ads with voting records of those who would violate the second amendment, within 60 days of the election, which is less than two weeks away.
The McCain so-called campaign reform places limitations on time and place of political speech-it doesn't dictate what can or cannot be said. The only limitations have traditionally been defamation (libel and slander), sedition and incitement to breach the peace. Kerry wants to silence specific statements or content.
Not quite. You can still "speak" on issues only, but not on cannidates. You could run an ad saying "contact your Congressman and Senators and tell them to vote against gun control", but you can't run an ad saying "Congressman X and Senator Y voted for gun control" or "Ms Z, who is running for Congress in your district, would vote for more gun control". Is that not regulating content?
Democrats can sure dish it out with impunity, but they sure can't take it. Kerry must be hurting awful bad. I hope the Feds tell him to take a flying leap. ~Pray
I love it,wait until the other ad airs !!!!!
That's because Kerry will do anything to get elected,he is lower that low.
Of all the arrogant pieces os.....these people are unbelieveable.
