The Roanoke Times ^ | June 20, 2004

No tickets remain for Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards' town-hall meeting Saturday morning in Roanoke. Party officials distributed the last of the free tickets this morning.

But those without tickets can still attend the event at Lucy Addison Aerospace Magnet School and watch from an overflow room set up by the campaign. Doors will open at 10 a.m. Saturday and organizers are urging people to arrive early for security reasons. Edwards is scheduled to appear at 11 a.m.

Other posters on other threads have wondered "Where is Edwards?" The Two Americas/One Trick Pony hasn't been very visible lately. Is he in Kerry's doghouse?

Definition - Townhall Meeting; Democrat Party campaign get-together when not enough people are interested in the candidate to fill up an auditorium.

He's certainly not saying much.

I wonder how he likes being in the Swift Vets for Truth ad?

Roanoke is a very liberal area and has left-wing-liberal Rick Boucher as their Congressman. He has so far been unbeatable, but the margin is getting smaller. I believe, (but can't confirm this because I live in Jerry Falwell land) that there are many conservatives increasingly moving to the area, thus changing the political 'landscape'.

It's funny that Kerry goes to North Carolina, but is Edwards going there? I don't think he is well liked in his own state as Senator. Today, NC's unemployment is the lowest in the region and it has nothing to do with Edwards because he's been an absent Senator the same as Kerry.

Just got back from a BIG FREEP and Bush Rally at the John Edwards event in Roanoke, VA.

Hope to get some pictures on here but we had about 50 people show up with Bush signs, Flags and anti-Kerry, anti-Edwards signs about 9:30...doors opened at 10. Looks like the Edwards people have learned from the last Edwards rally for 1000 that only drew 200...they bussed people in on several buses, so they can say the rally was "full".

It was WONDERFUL...the Dems tried to have us moved, as we were on a lot JUST ACROSS from the school where the Breck Girl was speaking..but we were on private property..and the owner was with us!!

The leftwingers grabbed some Kerry/Edwards signs and marched down, across from us...lots of angry shouts and DemocRAT IQ 1 finger salutes, but security was tight and the police ran them back up to the school...boo hoo.

The Breck girl arrived about 10:45 in his motorcade of many cars and security, along with a PRESS bus...all seeing our chanting Bush supporters.

A great time was had by all!

SW Virginia is BUSH COUNTRY...now Edwards and his minions know that as well.

So Edwards has picked up Kerry's habit of arriving fashionably late.
