John F. Kerry is saying, "If President Bush wants to compare his military record with mine, let him bring it on!" Well, President Bush is not attacking the Kerry service. He has called Kerry's service heroic! Kerry has also said, "A rich Republican source is paying for the Swift Boat Veteran's attacks and President Bush is doing nothing to stop them!"
Oops, it is against the law for a president to stop anyone from exercising his or her free speech. The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (over 200 strong) are not ATTACKING Senator Kerry's service; they are revealing the truth about a phony, an opportunist, perhaps a hoax. After putting together the facts, and writing a book, they then asked for donations. Hundred of people responded including one rich Republican in Texas who has often supported causes against socialist or leftist domination of elections.
They also used the new 527 rule that allows all candidate supporters to do this. Just what does Senator Kerry think that Leftist George Soros, the billionaire who wants to legalize heroin, has been doing with all his financial support of actual attacks on Bush by MoveOn.com and Michael Moore? I have not heard of Kerry stopping any of these.
I think that John O'Neil and the Swift Boat veterans might have been quiet after 35 years of Kerry bragging about his Vietnam experiences IF Kerry had not made his heroism become a focal point of his campaign to be elected President of the United States. Seeing that a liar might once again become a Commander in Chief, a man who had committed what many call, "treason," after he left Vietnam with just 4 ½ months of service overseas, by aiding and abetting the enemy and destroying the morale of our troops, do you blame them? Especially in seeing that he has been hailed by the communist party! A Ho Chi Minh City museum that honors Vietnam War protesters features a photograph of Sen. John Kerry being greeted by the general secretary of the Communist Party, Comrade Do Muoi.
No, The Swift Boat veterans are not attacking John Kerry, they are simply revealing him for the fraud he seems to be.
Kerry will not be the first to have vets challenge his medals. As a newspaper journalist, I often worked with famous newspaper publishers both at their plants and at the ANPA conventions held yearly at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. One prominent publisher named Duke Tully often lorded it over all the others. He was the publisher of the prominent Arizona Republic, the metro paper for Phoenix and its environs.
Bill Shover, who's held various titles as the public relations director for the Arizona Republic and the now-defunct Phoenix Gazette, announced his retirement in 1998. (See http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com )
"Reporters still wonder how Shover survived the newspapers' greatest humiliation--the exposure in 1985 of publisher Darrow "Duke" Tully as a phony war hero. Tully had arrogantly paraded around the community in an Air Force colonel's dress uniform, dripping with medals and spinning tales about being shot down in Vietnam and Korea, although he'd never served a day in any military service. Tully described Shover as his 'shadow'--and, sure enough, the two were inseparable. Shover promoted speaking invitations and memberships on civic boards for Tully, and squired him around town to meet politicians and visiting VIPs. And when Tully's counterfeit life as a war hero was about to be exposed, Shover rushed to meet with then-Maricopa County attorney Tom Collins in the hope of talking Collins out of revealing Tully's deceit. Collins was undeterred, and Tully resigned in disgrace."
Shover was not alone in being a victim of Tully's phony heroism, according to Doney and Associates. "Just after Christmas 1985, during Senator John McCain's second term in Rhodes old seat; he lost an ally at The Arizona Republic. John had hit it off so well with Duke Tully in part because of their common military experience. Duke regaled John and others with stories of his experience as an Air Force pilot in Korea and Vietnam. The wall at his office was replete with military plaques and certificates. Word got out that Tully's famous war record was a total fabrication, and Tully was forced to resign."
And so it is confusing as to why Senator McCain would rush to defend John Kerry when he had already been fooled by another's fake heroism. One would think that he, too, would want to let the veterans complete an investigation.
Before voting for a Commander in Chief on November 2, all veterans will want to be doubly sure that they a voting for a trustworthy leader. We do know that President Bush flew a dangerous plane for the Air National Guard out over the Atlantic-a plane of the same type that had killed other pilots before him. We know that he had been offered a chance not to fly this plane, but turned down the offer. He has never received any medals, but he sure has done a good job of being a war-time leader and being not afraid to take our battles to the Middle East instead of fighting them here in the USA! Give me a good leader anytime rather than a pretender!

To liberals, truth = attack...
[In the articlc below a Vietnam vet and supporter of Kerry says all vets (if they're honest) will admit they exaggerate]
Swift boat crew member glad to see nominee (Kerry) fighting back
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | August 20, 2004 | SHAMUS TOOMEY
John Kerry was "way too much of a gentleman" when he let attacks on his Vietnam War record go unanswered, a former swift boat mate said Thursday while
praising Kerry's decision to fight back.
"I talked to him on Monday. It's eating him up," said Jim Wasser, now an electrician in Kankakee. "He said, 'This is hurting me. It's tearing me up.'
"I know the real John Kerry. And John Kerry is proud of what's he's done," Wasser said. "He waited too long. I'm glad he finally came out. I'm proud of him."
Wasser, an unpaid Kerry campaign worker who spent six weeks on the rivers and canals of Vietnam with the presidential hopeful in the late 1960s, was among the
local Vietnam veterans who have anxiously awaited Kerry's response to ads run by the group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. The ads claim Kerry exaggerated his
combat record to win medals.
Wasser said that from what he witnessed, Kerry's wartime record is legitimate. Soldiers speaking out against Kerry were on separate swift boats and not close
enough to know what they're talking about, Wasser said.
Kimo Williams, a Vietnam vet and executive director of the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago, said he's been waiting for Kerry to fight back but
that exaggeration was part of the culture in Vietnam. "You'll hear this from any veteran who is upfront about it: When we were there, we were always trying to find
ways to take advantage of our situation," he said. "So when I look at John Kerry and the situation he was in, it's easy for me to say, 'OK, he may have done that.'
But I don't see anything wrong if Kerry not so much falsified it but exaggerated it to make sure he got his Purple Heart."
Other local veterans are far more skeptical and say they will never forgive Kerry for joining the anti-war movement when he got back to the United States.
"I'm a Democrat, but without a doubt, I'm voting for Bush," said Thomas Maher, a Vietnam vet from Mount Greenwood who has never voted Republican in a
presidential race. "If everything he did in Vietnam was totally correct, God bless him. . . . But you don't speak out against your own country."
Dennis Rombola, a Streamwood bus driver who was a gunner on Army helicopters in Vietnam, said he just doesn't believe Kerry.
"I got hit by some shrapnel and never took a Purple Heart," Rombola said. "To me, I think Kerry's a phony."

Has Johnny McCain the "speech" god gone underground??
It struck me this morning why John Kerry wants to be President: He wants his photograph to be placed in a position of honor in the future Osama Bin-Laden Museum of American War Crimes to be built on the site of the WTC.
John Kerry has perfected the art of using a lot of long words to say very little, then changes that little thought to whatever is convenient at the time.
George Bush has perfected the art of using a few small words to say a lot, then does what he says he will do.
Hmmmmmm, I wonder who should lead the free world?
Hillary?
John Edwards?
John Kerry is like flatulence: nothing but a load of hot air and reeking of liberal pablum.
John Kerry may be the only person in history to be considered a decorated war hero by both sides of a conflict. He was a war hero in the Viet Nam war. The question is: ON WHOSE SIDE?!
SPEW ALERT! Awesome. Of course, I spent ten minutes drying all of the coffee off of my desk!
I think that's been clear for 35 years.
Sorry I made you clean your desktop so early in the morning. But it's Friday, and hopefully all that was wetted will end up in the trash, thus giving you the afternoon off!
It may be because John's own experience in Viet Nam is a little confusing and the reporters once again did not do their job in reporting the truth. What goes around - comes around.
Perhaps these people can/will shed some light on both Kerry and McCain's claims............
POW/MIA FAMILY MEMBERS AGAINST JOHN KERRY
(POW/MIA)
"Hillary?
John Edwards?"
The list of MIA's beginning to grow.
Borrowed for tagline. Imitation is the best form of flattery. Maybe a few DU'per lurkers will read it and weep.
You're welcome to it.
attack = here is why not to vote for the other guy. Truth or not. I'm against Kerry too but that is the fact about attacks.
