The AP reported on this? Well, Kerry has opened the floodgates, imo, when he condemned the president and the Swifties yesterday.

I think the loyal Kerry Swifties also benefitted from his fake reports and were given medals and easier posts, plus they were complicit in their after action reports either by actively agreeing with them or by not speaking about them. They have their own little reasons for sticking with him.

I have been trying to understand Hanoi John’s continual exaggeration of his experience during four months incountry in Viet Nam. He has been nailed time and again with the truth about what actually happened. When this happens he back peddles just a little and changes those parts of the story that have been proven false. Parts that can not be changed without affecting his hero status are dismissed by attacking his critics as Republican Party lying attack dogs.
The "Walter Mitty Syndrome" is a recognized clinical condition involving compulsive fantasizing - usually by a rather mild-mannered, plebeian character seeking to inject excitement and a sense of self-importance into his otherwise humdrum, boring, uneventful, unsuccessful existence/reality.
I have observed Hanoi John’s pathological behavior in others, including some actual Viet Nam Vets - those who had rear area jobs (mail, supply, company clerks, etc.) who were in relatively safe areas like Cam Rahn Bay and Da Nang and never had any combat experience. They seemed to feel that what they did wasn’t up to the standards expected so they needed to exaggerate their experience.
I meet others with outrageous tales who were not only not combat veterans but had never even been in the military - these were members of the Viet Nam Veterans Against the War who I had encountered in 1970-1972. This bunch all had a few thing in common.
1. They all told stories of being “forced” to commit outrageous atrocities.
2. They all out Ramboed Sgt York and Audi Murphy.
3. They all used their now popular “victim” status to get women and excuse antisocial behavior.

I hear that the Swifties (the good guys) have a new ad coming out at 10 AM today. Does anyone know how, when or where it can be viewed?

Afterward, if anyone spots a web site where it's running, please post this information.

Can't wait to see the ad. I'll bet Kerry can't, either.

I'm not a member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which can be verified. I also will not vote for either Bush or Kerry because I'm anti-war. I don't think we should be in Iraq. However, I am for the truth.

This is indicative of this guy's personal character which I admire, even though I don't share his views.

Character and truth are what makes a man what he is.

I wish to thank him for his service to our nation and his efforts to reveal the truth.

The notion that Kerry might have accidentally been across the border doesn't help him a bit. There has been some discussion of one of the canals that might have wormed a bit across both borders, but inadvertent crossing would not have been seared into his mind, nor would it have justified his angst.

How can anyone believe anything this man says? He has now proven to everyone that best he exaggerates, and at worst he is a flat out liar!

Incredible that Kerry is calling to ban the book, when Kerry praised the likes of Whoopi Goldberg and Micheal Moore as expressing the "heart" of America!

The Swifties are merely telling their own perspective on stories that Kerry has spread. They have that right, and since Kerry is running for President, they actually have a DUTY! They are not calling him a filthy name or anything!

Moore gets a seat at the Democratic Convention right next to President Carter...when his movie has been proven to spread out right lies! Yet Kerry insists that he is going to impose a gag order on his critics!

How is Kerry exhibiting his "peace making" capabilities? Is this how he is going to "negotiate" with our enemies, if he becomes President? I thought he said he would be "sensative"...yet he wants to take away the free speech rights of other Vietnam Veterans!

Hillary knows where they are! We will just sit back and let her expose her rival. If he gets in, she won't ever get in the White House as POTUS! She abolutely can not let this happen!

I predict that the records will show up soon...

Re: #58

I heard that, too. Radio ops took notes, down to the second, of every incident. There is documentation somewhere!

And I can't believe more isn't being made of the new embellished citations being issued in 1988... by a Sec of the Navy under REAGAN!

I am still stunned by this one. JFKerry must have written up the citation and sent it over for Lehman to sign, else he has connections with Lehamn few know about.

Guess it is one of those perks Senators get and does explain why becoming a Senator was suppose to be a smooth transition for Hillry in a algore administration. Think what kinds of things she would have kept hidden.
