Impossible to know where truth is
The papers call him an Israeli poet, but it turns out the only poetry he ever produced was a self-published book at age 16.
He wrote press releases in New York's Israeli consulate office, but in a 1999 speech he bragged about his work with prime ministers and on sensitive peace negotia-tions.
He insists he's strictly a heterosexual, yet both the governor of New Jersey and now a college professor reportedly had gay affairs with him.
It's almost understandable why the Arab television network Al-Jazeera has posted a bizarre story claiming he's a secret agent for Israel's Mossad.
Forget Austin Powers. If ever there were an international man of mystery, it would be Golan Cipel, the enigmatic Israeli at the center of the Jim McGreevey sex scandal.
Cipel's credibility cuts to the very heart of the ongoing flap over McGreevey's stunning announcement that he's resigning because of an extramarital affair with his ex-aide.
That's because Cipel says that he's not even gay and that he did not have an affair with McGree-vey, that the governor made unwanted advances and that he was fired when he spurned them.
When Cipel arrived in the New Jersey Statehouse in 2002 under that cloud of intrigue, administration officials were most mystified about how he had landed his $110,000-a-year job at all. Several say the now-35-year-old Israeli was a poor worker - when he showed up.
One former McGreevey aide who spoke on the condition he remain anonymous said Cipel "didn't do anything. He had these two aides working for him, and all they ever did was sit around and cut newspaper clippings. Half the time he didn't even bother to come in. That caused a lot of resentment, because everyone else was working so hard."
His last American boss, Shelley Zeiger, of Trenton-based Zeiger Electronics, gave a kinder assessment, but he pretty much agreed that Cipel was not a hard worker.
He said Cipel that was seeking in 2003 to arrange imports from Israel but that did not come into the office every day. "The long and short of it was he wasn't into what we had to offer," Zeiger said.
Israeli parliament member Rafi Elul told the Gannett New Jersey news service said Cipel was a "nice guy, not a hardworking guy, but he knows how to schmooze and government relations."
Cipel, who returned to his Israeli hometown of Rishon Letzion this week, is deciding whether to sue McGreevey for sexual harassment and insisted to the newspaper Haaretz that the confusion over his background and identity was not his fault.
"There was an attempt to besmirch my name," Cipel said in the interview. "I saw my career, that I had worked hard to achieve, in ruins. I was turned from a naval officer into a sailor. Someone found a book of poetry, that I published myself when I was 16, and suddenly they made me into a poet."
Few had heard of Cipel - who'd come from Israel to work on McGreevey's 2001 campaign - until the new governor named the Israeli citizen with a background in public relations as New Jersey's homeland-security chief, less than six months after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
In the ensuing furor, Mc-Greevey administration officials admitted that Cipel's credentials as a security expert had been exaggerated, and the Israeli was shifted to a lower-profile job before leaving state government altogether a few months later.
Yesterday, Cipel insisted the pumped-up resume was not his fault.
"The document was not written to be a CV [resume], but it was mistakenly presented as such to the media," he told Haaretz. "I still have a hard time understanding who spread the story that I am a security expert."
But in the past, Cipel has been accused of exaggerating. During the flap over his hiring in 2002, Gannett New Jersey discovered a 1999 videotape of Cipel - who then worked in the consulate in New York City - speaking to a group of senior citizen at Fairfield University.
"In the last five years, me working at the consulate, I have the privilege to work very close with some of these leaders, with different prime ministers," he said. "I worked with [Yitzhak] Rabin in the beginning. I worked with Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu."
The Gannett reporters wrote that the story had not checked out - just like no one covering the Cipel flap has ever found the poetry book he is said to have published, called "The Road of Thorns." In 2002, McGreevey administration officials said it won an award from "the Israel Institute of Art." A search of Google and other Internet search engines does not turn up anything with that name.
"We can't find it," Trenton reporter Bob Ingle said on MSNBC's "Hardball." "If it ever happened, we can't find the publisher. We can't find the poet

(Snort) McGreevy didn't understand Cipel's heavily accented Hebrew. He thought Ciple's name was "Golden Nipple." McG's Marquis de Sade-type sexual appetites went ballistic immediately. He dreamed of days in the Statehouse urinals with Cipel and nights with "Bruce" doing thressomes at Drumthwacket.
Time for some Cipel/McSkeevy Haikus & Limericks.
Whose sexual habits were skeevy.
He had a fake wedding
To hide who he was bedding
Then said "I'm a fag" on the TV.
McGreevey called a press conference and said," first the bad news, I'm gay and I'm resigning. "
"The good news is I just saved $100 by switching to Geico."
Then said to Cipel, "Gimmee a ball."
The McG scandal just made the sports pages. McG surpassed Yogi Berra for the number of foul balls across his face.
Next time I'm in NYC, you & I have to go out for a beer.
Cipel portrays himself as a naive rustic who was hired for a $110,000 state job, and did not understand McGreevey was gay and was expecting him to perform sexually.
That was yesterday. This is today.
Golan is now seeking monetary damages b/c of McGreevey's voracious appetite for gay sex and says McG forced o/s on him. McG's version differs dramatically.
What really happened was McG accompanied Cipel into the Statehouse urinals when McGay accidentally slipped and fell.
In one of those crazy, unforseen situations, somehow McGay's mouth landed on Cipel's private parts.
Now McGay was so stunned, his mouth locked on Cipel's privates and he couldn't let go no matter how hard he tried.
McGay just kept trying and trying, but his mouth simply
would not release Cipel's privates.
Cipel---a poet, sailor, and PR man--was too politically correct to ask McGay to let go of his privates. Cipel did manage to say, " Governor, Sir, I believe your mouth is clamped on my privates."
But McG was just too stunned to do anything about it and could not let go for love nor money.
Finally help arrived when McG's aide came in to use the urinal.
The aide helpfully held Cipel down while McGay finished unwrapping his mouth from Cipel's privates.
And that's what really happened.

Cipel goes to work in disguise trying to throw McG off his scent.

LOL
Cipel goes to work in disguise trying to throw McG off his scent.LOL! Great caption for that pic.
There is no way this guy is Mossad.
They would never give him such a weak-suck background story. They have placed agents into sensitive situations for over 60 years. This is far too amateur for Mossad to have had anything to do with it.
This is a lazy employee who had a smitten boss by the short hairs. There's more that will come out about this, and DEMs in New Jersey are going to be kept very busy trying to cover the crap that is coming.
Simple and perfect. Now that you are a poet, I believe there is an opening in NJ's Homeland Security....
No go. I dig chicks. That's not the opening I'm looking for.
WTF are you coming from, huh?
You're looking at it a**-backwards and falling into Golan's trap. Cipel wants everybody to think he's a naive rustic who was duped by the gay sex-crazed gov. You believe that, you'll believe anything. (Wanna buy a bridge?)
The way it worked was that Cipel---being a rank opportunist and professional parasite---saw McG was smitten with him, and wanted him for his sex playmate. It was Golan, being a good Israeli, who went to Mossad and said "I am going to the US to be the NJ governor's playmate. How can I be of service?"
The way Cipel and Kushner, who pimped Cipel for McG, saw it they would do such great things for Israel, they might even be buried on Mt Ararat---the highest honor given to only a select few Israeli loyalists. Publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell, who fell or was pushed off his yacht, who looted his employee's pension funds to finance his opulent lifestyle, is buried there.
Golan was a screwup and f/u his state job, his playmate's job, and and his Mossad mission.
On the other hand, McG fellated Cipel, his voter base and his donor list, all at the same time.
