A Claremont McKenna College psychology professor was convicted Wednesday of falsely reporting her car was vandalized and spray-painted with racist and anti-Semitic slurs while she was speaking at a campus forum on racial tolerance.

Kerri Dunn, 39, of Redlands was convicted of one misdemeanor count of filing a false police report and two felony counts of attempted insurance fraud. She faces up to 31/2 years in prison when she is sentenced Sept. 17.

Her attorney, Gary S. Lincenberg, issued a statement saying Dunn would appeal the attempted insurance fraud convictions.

What a joke. I remember all those students being hoodwinked and walking out of class to have a four campus love in.

Wasn't Al Sharpton her lawyer? Brings recollections of a case he was involved with.

Lovely town! I don't know what to think of this case. Did she admit to the crime? There is supposedly an eye witness to the crime. Did she then pay someone to spray paint her car for her, since it happend while she was speaking at an event?

"As for the false police report conviction, a Claremont College electrician identified a man who should have been the primary suspect, Lincenberg said."

I do hope that this is the same punishment that the alleged "Perps" would have received had there actually been Perps to catch.

Good question. If it was a real hate crime, what would the punishment have been, anybody know?

People don't seem to understand that you can only appeal based on facts of Law (usually evidence allowed/disallowed). An appeal is NOT another shot at the decision.

I lived in Claremont for 8 happy years (though I was greatly outnumbered by liberals). The likelihood of any kind of hate crime happening there is slim to none. But among the faculty there, the likelihood of something bizarre like this is pretty high.

Hey Professor B'atch, it's alright to be White in America. Put her ass in solitude for a decade and throw in some sensitivity training.Bush/Cheney 2004

I remember the articles about it on FR when it happened. Let her do the time. She did it, admitted doing it. What an a-hole. So many "hate" crimes are self-perpetrated. There was a whole slew of fake ones in Oregon some years ago.

Well, she can conduct anti-hate seminars in prison. Maybe Martha will attend. Hopefully, Hillary too.

It sounds like the police were pointed to another suspect. Imagine if this woman hadn't been caught and the other guy ended up convicted wrongly of a hate crime.

This woman should be locked away for at least a year for what she did, and for longer if she had actually filed claims with the insurance company. She should also have to pay restitution for police work and the cost of one day's tuition to every student that had their coursework shortened by one day for her bull$hit rally.

31 years is clearly too harsh, though I wouldn't shed a tear if she got that sentence, cause it would save two generations of students from having to endure her.

Two credible witnesses saw her flatten her own tires in the parking lot. The police and insurance company found holes in her story. She has a history of shoplifting, false accusation, impersonation, perjury, self-mutilation for gain.

Hopefully, her priors will be factored in at sentencing. Any judge in his right mind can see this woman has not learned her lesson from previous arrests.
