Anybody see anything odd about this letter? I rarely respond to unsolicited letters asking for funds but I read this, found his site and forward to my FR friends. Sorry that my extract is limited to my webtv and 2 finger typing.

Yes there's something odd, even the Marxists know when the Tet offensive was:

"On the night of 31st January 1968, 70,000 North Vietnamese soldiers launched the Tet offensive..." http://www.marxist.com/1968/vietnam.html

You got it! No way this could be a typo. Unless he got his VietNam service dates wrong. I am late getting back to you as went out for a run.

If it's a fraud, I will not give them the Web hit.

Send one person in as a recon, and report back to us. I won't pick up any bugs looking for them.

Maybe he pulled a Querry and got three Purple Hearts (one being for rice up his butt).

I'd recommend being very wary about that PAC, what its purpose might be, what guarantees are there that the money will actually be spent against Kerry. I'd rather give my money to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth to help keep their ad running. Why have another PAC take their administrative costs out of your money?

Okay... I did some recon, lol.

There is virtually no content at this site other than the photo copy of a "Letter from Don Lester" that includes the 'Tet Offensive' reference above. The title of that letter is "RE: STOPPING JOHN KERRY FROM BECOMING OUR NEXT COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF". The letter calls Kerry a 'turncoat', sites his antiwar actions, outlines his antiwar Senate voting record, etc.

The contact email for the site is: info@veteransforvictory.com

On the "Links" page, it gives links to wintersoldier.com and Vietnam Vets for the Truth (kerrylied.com)

The donations page says:

Paid for by Veterans for Victory PAC. Corporate Donations prohibited. Gifts are not tax deducatable. Federal law requires us to report the name and occupation of all contributors whos contributions aggregate in excess of $200 per election cycle.

Could the typo be that 1968 should be 1967 (that would have him serving for a year-and-a-half, would that be unusual?)

People know Tet occurred around Christmastime and in 1968 (of course, it was near the Xmas of '67). Could that be where the mistake came in?

Could this be a Kerry op designed to smear anti-Kerry veterans by getting them to associate with a fraud, which would then be revealed at a more opportune time? I'd just stick with the established SwiftVets.com. That group was smart to only accept Swift Boat veterans (people they know).
