U.S. Senator James J. (for Janus) Jeffords appeared on a live call in show on VT Public TV tonight.
He spent most of his opening remarks trashing President Bush and his policies.
I lucked out and got to pose a couple of questions to him.
I said I had listened to his complaints but did not hear what he would have done that would have resulted in a better solution.
His response was IMHO a bunch of mumbo-jumbo...as if he didn't expect any critical questions during the TV show.....(he didn't get many)
I then asked him: "Why, Senator, If you were so disenchanted with the Republican party of which you were a member for 40 years...did you not resign and run as a Democrat or Independent and thereby not disenfranchise people like myself who voted for you as a Republican several times?
His response was more mumbo-jumbo EXCEPT for his statement that "people who oppose my action will have a chance to make their views known in the next Senatorial election in 2007....and I intend to run again."
Jeez, Louise, Jimbo...thanks for magnanimous gesture of allowing us to wait three years to right a wrong.
Anybody wants to e-mail him use:Jeffords
Where the heck have leaky Leahy and Jimbo been hiding lately? Haven't heard a peep out of them in months
I told the WCAX weather folks they should have been called Bonnie and Clyde...for all the trouble they caused!
Dodged a bullet on Charley. It was originally going to go just west of me, but with the last minute jog, went just east of me. Path was about 30 miles away.
They don't teach you about this stuff up there. Least there's no wind in an ice storm ;-}
Coincidence.... just rereading some old Mark Steyn this evening, one piece was on Jeffords at the time of his party jump. Steyn referred to him as the Vermont Dairy Queen. Is this an allusion to Jeffords' sexuality?
Any chance either Sanders or Leahy will be beaten this fall?
Tuttle got the Dem-Liberal hero worship for saying if he beat Leahy he wouldn't go to Washington and he was gonna vote for Leahy anyway.
Fred died last year...R.I.P.
The CEO of IDX, Rich Tarrant, made some noises about running against Leahy but backed out when his "polls" didn't look good. Big disappointment...I think he could have given Leahy a strong run.
There are a couple of good looking opponents for Sanders but they are not make much headway just yet.
The problem with Sanders is his Burlington area base particularly the college kids who get sucked into absentee ballots picked UP by Sandinistas and brought to the polls.
A LARGE number of these numbnuts are from out-of-state and there is no effort made to assure that they are bona fides who don't also go home and vote in their home state.
