The May 8, 2000 article from U.S. News & World report reproduced below begins by stating that John Kerry conducted clandestine forays into Cambodia during the Vietnam War to deliver weapons to anticommunist forces. Because that statement isn't a direct quote of Kerry, I contacted the reporter, Kevin Whitelaw, this afternoon. Whitelaw still works at U.S. News & World report where he covers foreign affairs and intelligence matters.
Hugh: "Did John Kerry tell you that he ran guns into Cambodia?"
Kevin Whitelaw: "That's exactly what he told me."
Mr. Whitelaw declined my invitation to appear on my radio program, explaining that he doesn't report on or comment on the presidential campaign.
Can we now agree that John Kerry has engaged in wild claims about his service? Since he told that tale to Mr. Whitelaw, who else has he told it to?

Kerry was no war criminal, that is all just part of the lies he told for the left wing. What this Cambodia story needs is for Bush or Cheney to get the facts straight and then start going after Kerry directly on it. Then the press woyuld be forced to cover it, and Kerry should be discredited. Making stuff up about your war service is not forgivable, if the republicans can make it stick.
Shoe on the other foot, the dems would have been pushing this stuff three months ago.

Not unless they are much, much more sure of a victory. More likely that the Clintons would submarine Kerry badly so he really lost teribly so she can come along and be the Demo savior in 2008 IMHO.
That would be a real life lead in to my fictional Dragon's Fury Series
Then, imagine it all coupled with a Bill Clinton run at the Secretary Geeral of the UN at the same time (something I did not put in my books). It would be possible.

Nah, the biggest liar (and criminal) to ever run was clinton, but JF'nK is sure making a bid for the title of top liar.

The SwiftVets are doing a fine job of getting it all out there and making it stick...Bush and his campaign will not even have to get their hands dirty with it.

Hillary indeed.
Is this possible? The NJ Courts allowed Torricelli to
be substitued. But isn't it too late for the Dems to
replace Kerry? What would be the protocol if he were to
become ill?
Any one know?

Honestly, I am far more inclined to believe that if Kerry ran guns to anyone it was for the North Vietnamese.

You had to do six months, I believe, to earn five or six days of R&R. Somehow I don't think Kerry's 4 months, 11 days,3 hours. twelve minutes, and six seconds qualified.

The evidence mounts daily that John Kerry is either the biggest liar to ever run for President, or the most delusional person to seek that office. BOTH!

Did he deliver the arms while wearing a Santa suit or did he opt for the Easter bunny suit? I suppose it all depends on what holiday he happend to spend in Cambodia, doesn't it?

Shouldn't Karry have had every man in Coastal Div 11 & 13 drugged, hypnotized, and programmed to repeat that John Kerry is the bravest, most heroic, most sensitive man I have ever met? Oh Wait! That's a different movie. Frank Sinatra not Marlon Brando.

I wonder if Kerry may have been the principal operative in the coup that overthrew Pres. Ngo Dinh Diem?

It's not like he could just say "Hey, toss me the keys, I'm running off with the boat for a couple of days... I'd tell ya what I'm doing but it's TOP SECRET and then I'd have to kill'ya"
sound of five or ten weapons locking...
"Hey! Wait a minute guys, I was just kidding! I mean about the killing you part... I really do have to take the boat! Gee guys... don't throw me in that water... there are piranhas in there...pllleeeeeeaaaaaazzzzeeee" splash!
