Good post Meg. And I sure agree about the low to missing Emotional IQ. He completely lacks the ability to feel the pain of anyone but himself. I don't mean pain as in conscience, he has none, but rather inconvenience to himself or the lack of ability to get what he wants, when he wants it. He demonstrates that very well, However to us it is completely transparent.
And you know, drj, a pregnant body looks nothing like a little girlish petite body... er... just pointing that out regarding Scott and his possible taste in, um, women.

Yesterday I was sickened and mad at Scott..Today I am realizing the depth of his psychopathy..He is scary...

My best guess is that his motivations are control and admiration. His "real life" is careening out of his control; he is being scrutinized and criticized. Amber is the only "place" where he can feel in control and get the admiration he so desparately needs....his narcissistic supply. I additionally believe that he was obssessed with her.
One thing good about Mr. Geragos - win or lose, he will be levying a hefty fine on the Peterson family.
Another reason I think he stayed on the line was for the same reason that he compulsively returned to the Bay. He is a control freak, plagued by anxiety, and has to make sure everything is under control and nothing is happening that he can't keep the lid on.
#274 - THAT conversation, to me, completely destroys Geragos's assertion that Amber was "only a few dates and meant NOTHING to him". You know "just sex". The more this man speaks, the more he reveals his obsession with Amber. Even Feiger said that today. He said Geragos will absolutely being doing the wrong thing if he tries to peddle that to the Jury.!!
But at least Amber managed to get in the part about how the happy couple in question had married on an impulse at a Las Vegas drive-thru chapel, and were already split up after two months of marriage--and two months of the wife's pregnancy.

julie - where do you come down on the success of lack thereof, of treating psycho/sociopaths? I honestly believe that statement that lots of interaction with therapists is what they use to hone their skills in their pathology!!
